Creativity In Care

Creativity In Care Creativity In Care is a Community Interest Company (social enterprise) for social benefit. All proceeds are used for the work.

Creativity In Care, community interest company - is a values led socially engaged arts organisation, facilitating creative workshops for wellbeing, inclusion and joyfulness. It is a non profit organisation as there are no shares and assets are locked.. Creativity In Care promotes quality of life, inclusion and joy in care services and community settings. Founded by Karrie Marshall in 2012. We dev

elop and facilitate online and in-person creative workshops and programmes requested by individuals or organisations in our communities with a wide range of people. People describe the work as 'uplifting, meaningful and joyful'. This has a positive impact on health and wellbeing. We work in partnership with well over 600 people per year plus several third sector social care partners. Our exhibitions and books reach even more people, and it is with great pleasure that we can now sell kits and books directly to individuals. These sales help us to offer free services to people who find themselves in situations that make paying for a kit or programme difficult. The work uses the BICEPS model of connection (KM2012) which combines creativity, mindfulness, intention and self awareness and is fully focused on what wellness means to individuals, regardless of health or social conditions.

Community, Collaboration and Caithness with Creativity In Care.

The Community Led Local Development fund administered by Highland Third Sector Interface gives rural communities the power to tackle their own local challenges, responding to the needs of their local area and supporting positive change.

By building knowledge and skills, supporting new ideas and encouraging cooperation, CLLD helps to create viable and resillient communities like ours in Caithness.

Special thanks to Isla Mackay, Raquel Caithness, Jock MacGroatie and Vikki Mackenzie for sharing your inspiring story - 'People In A Landscape' with our captive audience at The Discovery College, Wick.

Creativity In Care is absolutely delighted to share our news with you that collaborating alongside Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival Highland, UHI Inverness and Highlands Psychoanalytical Collective we have successfully secured funding through Highland Third Sector Interface's Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund for Adults for the next two years.

As an introduction to this project, UHI Inverness and Highlands Psychoanalytic Collective are inviting you to the Highlands Dream Bank meeting this Thursday 14th May 3-4pm.

The Highlands Dream Bank is a creative way to bring people together across the highlands and share what psychoanalyst Christopher Bollas called β€˜the unthought known’. Against the trends of hurried activity and unlimited information at our fingertips, we will invite people from across the highlands to slow down and gently tune into their inner life. The collection, analysis and artwork creation from dreams will have a 6-month long pilot phase followed by an 18-month long main phase.

Below is a link to the recording of an intro talk with Sarah Fielding of the Highlands Psychoanalytical Collective followed by a Q&A with staff and students at UHI.

Please do get in touch if you would like to be part of this amazing project!

I would also like to thank Keith Walker, Director of Creativity In Care, Marc Archer and Mari Todd, UHI Inverness, Sarah Fielding, Highlands Psychoanalytical Collective and Bonnie, Daniel and Graeme, Directors of SMHAF Highland for all the hard work you put into securing this funding and for your inspiring creative vision.

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Please take to the comments section and give a massive round of applause to the fabulous actors who participated in our 'People In A Landscape' project.

🌿 Surrounded by the backdrop of their artwork, they became part of the story they created.

As one participant said of the drama workshop 'it all started from 3 words!'

Thank you to both George Gunn, poet and playwright for partnering up with Creativity In Care and to The Discovery College.

πŸ‘₯ And a special thanks to the audience who came from far and wide to show their support and appreciation. And for participating in the valuable Q & A after show talk.

Grateful thanks to Highland Third Sector Interface who supported this project through the Community-Led Local Development fund. By building knowledge and skills, supporting new ideas and encouraging cooperation, CLLD helps to create viable and resilient communities.

πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Come with us as we explore deeper into The Flow Country with Shadanah, a talented creative who participated in our 'People In A Landscape' project, held at The Discovery College in Caithness.

πŸ‘£ Raising awarenes to leave only footprints on the landscape, led to valuable discussions around the impact of human activity on our fragile ecosystems. This was then incorporated into the participant's presentation with poet and playwright George Gunn.

🌺 How fabulous are Shadanah's delicate and colourful flora drawings, which became inspiration for her magnificant 3d multi-media flower?

Grateful thanks to Highland Third Sector Interface for funding this project through the Community-Led Local Development fund.

🌬️ Swaying gently in the breeze is artist Enya MacManus's deconstructed Plain of Caithness, part of our 'People In A Landscape' project held at The Discovery College, Wick.

⛰️ In the background can be seen the flow country blanket bog - an area of deep peat that forms the heart of the Caithness and Sutherland peatlands, depicted beautifully by Lynsey Macgregor.

🧚 Attracted to the habitat of The Flow Country is Rachel Caithness's (yes! that is her actual surname!) fabulous 3D butterfly made at our prop making workshops.

Thank you all for being amazing participants at our creative sessions.

Grateful thanks to Highland Third Sector Interface for the funding from the community led local development fund.
