🌱 **Community Learning Exchange - Badenoch & Strathspey**
We recently had a brilliant day bringing local growing projects together to share ideas, experiences and inspiration. Volunteers from Grantown Growing Together and Badenoch & Strathspey Therapy Gardens visited community growing projects at Croy and Tornagrain, exploring two very different approaches to community gardens and allotments.

Huge thanks to all the volunteers who welcomed us so warmly and generously shared their knowledge. Plenty of ideas to take away and great connections made! 🌿

Join us for our launch event for Community Resilience Connect. A space and source of information to enable communities who are planning or carrying out community resilience in their places to connect, learn from each other and learn from others.

Our climate is already changing, we see more instances of extreme weather each year from both heat in summer and winter storms. Supporting our communities to be more resilient means making connections, plans and learning. Community Resilience Connects aims to share resources, learning from partners and from each other to support and grow resilience in our places.

For this launch event we will be joined by:
Kerry Jardine, Scottish Government - Ready Scotland
Hannah Cameron-Ross, Highland Council - Senior Emergency Planner

We’ll also share what you can expect from Community Resilience Connect and have the opportunity to hear from you about what you need to support resilience in your community.

What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK?
Join us for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:
🌧️ Extreme weather
🍞 Food security
🏥 Health
💷 Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.
After the film there will be a short open discussion about what it means for Inverness and Highland and what we can do locally.

🎉 Climate Action Fund
Our Climate Action Fund will open for its FINAL round for 2026/27 on 1st November, closing 30th November.
Want to know how we make the decisions on the Climate Action Fund? We don't, we want to encourage as much participation in these decisions as possible so have a Member's Panel who meet and discuss applications before deciding who and what to fund. It is working incredibly well for both us an applicants for funding as we can ensure that additional support is given through our Community Development Officers for projects that aren't quite the right fit and encourage them to come back in with new applications. So far this year we have awarded funding to over 15 groups.

It's World Mental Health Day, and we know that with taking climate action can come feelings of climate anxiety. It's important to recognise these feelings and talk about them. 💚

We love the sentiment of "we don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly" and that's why we work to support our membership of over 400 individuals, groups and organisations to make changes which help to make our places better for people and the planet. 🌿

🌿 GET INVOLVED WITH H&I CLIMATE COLLECTIVE

You might have spotted over this year our lovely H&I Climate Collective leaflets & logo, which was designed by a very talented young graphic designer from Shetland, and wondered what the collective is? 👀

We've seen a gap between how young people engage in their communities, and the need for meaningful youth voice in projects. So we, directed by our Youth Advisory Board, created H&I Climate Collective which is a space for young people to take climate action. We've got a page on our website spotlighting opportunities and very excitingly, an event next week - From Anxiety to Action with Another Way.

If you are a young person aged 16-30 who wants to get involved with the collective, we'd love to see you there. If you know a young person who would benefit from coming along, share it with them! We're looking forward to our Climate Action Ting Celebration with Climate Café Shetland tomorrow night, and we'd love to see you there! 🥳

Earlier this year we were delighted to support Climate Action Ting, a Green Participatory Budgeting project, which empowered Shetland residents to choose 9 community groups to receive funding to deliver climate action projects. 🌿

Tomorrow night we're coming together to hear from those 9 community groups as they share what they’ve been up to, challenges and achievements, and how their projects have made a difference in their communities. If you're in Shetland, it's a great opportunity to come along and celebrate what these community groups have achieved. 👏
