Four Wick High School pupils attended Wick assembly Rooms last Friday to take part in the vote counting process for the Ward 3 By-election for Wick and East Caithness. 🗳️

Pupils opened and emptied the sealed ballot boxes and prepared the voting slips to be scanned, processed and counted. It was a great experience for the pupils to get the chance to be involved, to understand how the vote counting procedure works and to see the results coming in live!

Thank you to Highland Council for inviting them along.

Last week, Wick High School's Classics and History class took a trip to the John O'Groats Mill for a guided tour. Pupils learned about the buildings heritage and the significance of the site - they even got to see the machinery in action!

After the tour, pupils participated in some educational activities, including cataloguing handwritten historical data, and learning about pest and climate management and the damage that can be caused to historical buildings if not managed properly.

Finally, the class took to TikTok to create their own John O'Groats Mill promotional content - videos pending!
