It's the last boating night of the season, and Thrapston Sea Cadets are having a great time with music, kayak races,and fun games! Many thanks to all the area instructors that helped us make this a great boating season. 🚢 🚣‍♂️

🚨 We're looking for adult volunteers! 🚨

Thrapston Sea Cadets is growing! To keep giving our young people the opportunities they deserve, we need new people to join our team.

You don't need a military background.
You don't need to know anything about sailing.
You just need to be willing to give a little of your time and make a real difference.

Whether you enjoy mentoring young people, helping behind the scenes, teaching practical skills, assisting with administration, fundraising, or simply being another positive adult role model, there's a place for you.

As a volunteer you'll:
⚓ Help young people build confidence and resilience.
⚓ Learn new skills and make great friends.
⚓ Be part of a welcoming, supportive team.
⚓ Have the chance to make a genuine impact in our community.

A few hours each week can change a young person's future.

🎵 Do you want to build a cadet raft?
We learned some knots and teamwork too.
It floated out for five whole minutes...
Then took a dive, as rafts sometimes do! 🎵

Last night's raft-building challenge may not have produced the next America's Cup champion, but it definitely produced plenty of laughs, teamwork, problem-solving, and new skills. A great evening on the water and a reminder that success isn't always measured by how long something floats! ⚓🚣‍♂️😄

Some of our dedicated Sea Cadets spent a couple of hours litter picking along our river today. What a great group of young people. Many thanks to Nene Valley Park and Thrapston Town Council for lending us the gear!

15 cadets. 2 instructors. 1 cold(ish) lake. 💪

Tonight our cadets completed their water safety test before getting out on the paddleboards for some well-earned fun. Not the warmest evening, but that didn’t stop them getting stuck in!

A brilliant start to the 2026 boating season — building confidence, skills, and resilience on the water 👏

Our little Sea Cadet group has done amazingly well in its first year! Huge thank you to the young people for their mighty efforts, parents that support us, and staff that volunteer their time. We're looking forward to even better things in the coming year!
