We learned some knots and teamwork too.
It floated out for five whole minutes...
Then took a dive, as rafts sometimes do! 🎵

Last night's raft-building challenge may not have produced the next America's Cup champion, but it definitely produced plenty of laughs, teamwork, problem-solving, and new skills. A great evening on the water and a reminder that success isn't always measured by how long something floats! ⚓🚣‍♂️😄

Tonight our cadets completed their water safety test before getting out on the paddleboards for some well-earned fun. Not the warmest evening, but that didn’t stop them getting stuck in!

A brilliant start to the 2026 boating season — building confidence, skills, and resilience on the water 👏

⚓ THRAPSTON – WE NEED YOUR HELP ⚓

Thrapston looks after its own — and right now, we need that support.

At Thrapston Sea Cadets, we’ve reached capacity.
We have young people ready to join… but we can’t take them on.

👉 Why?
Because without more adult volunteers, we cannot meet safeguarding ratios.

⚓ WHAT THIS REALLY MEANS

There are young people in our town currently missing out on:

• Structure
• Confidence
• Opportunities
• Being part of something bigger

And whether we can change that comes down to people stepping forward.

⚓ WE’RE RECRUITING

We’re looking for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) to join our team:

🔹 Unit Training Officer
Help shape and deliver the training programme

🔹 Uniformed Instructors
Get involved in hands-on training — on land and water

🔹 Civilian Instructors
Support sessions and bring your own skills

⚓ WHAT YOU GET BACK

This isn’t just giving your time — you’ll gain:

✔ Real leadership & instructional experience
✔ Confidence and transferable skills

We’ll be at Thrapston Neighbourhood Day this March!

Thrapston Sea Cadets will be there with other local organisations, so come along, say hello, and find out more about what we do. You’ll also have a chance to see what the community has been saying over the past year and how those ideas are shaping Thrapston’s future.
