Looking for her forever home:
“The Duchess”
She’s named appropriately as this girl is incredible. But she needs to be treated like the highly trained, instinctive girl that she is.
She’s a Serbian import and therefore is docked, cropped and tattooed. The Serbian lines are a more solid and stocky line.
Duchess bonds hard to her handler and she will be responsive, protective and loyal. She needs someone experienced to understand her and make the most of this girl. She came to us wary of touch and hesitant. Within 48 hours of positive training and reinforcements, she was loving and pleasing. Incredible turnaround.
When she arrived she hadn’t been in a house, she went straight on foster and has now been in a multi dog household, however this is something that requires monitoring.
She’s now used to household noises and not phased, settles great if her person is in sight.
The Hoover, the TV, the clash and bang of pans and life with teenagers has all been overcome successfully. She’s now fully housetrained and will come and gently nudge you to let you know she needs to toilet.
She allows people in the house and will greet them nicely. That said, if she detects something is amiss with that person she will default to her trained and genetic instinct to bark.
This has only happened twice in nearly 4 weeks, and she will move away and settle when told. It’s important to know that this is what she’s been bred and trained to do.
On the flip side when in her brain she’s not “working”, she’s goofy, silly, plays hide and seek, bounces like tigger, loves her toys especially monkey. She’s a special dog to be around. She gives you the goofy side eye and will play bow and entice you to enjoy her silly fun side.
We are looking for an experienced home, with a large space to allow her to patrol and work. But then be in with her people for attention and the affection she deserves and craves.
Despite what social media portrays, Dobermann should NEVER be housed outside, their single coat and lean physique just mean it’s unfair and leads to health issues.
They need to be with those they love, and that for the job they do, is the least they deserve.
She can be with other dogs of a sound temperament, but if she thinks said dogs intentions are faltered, she will attempt to correct. Protecting her people is everything to her. She’s lived with chihuahuas and a Jack Russell, she’s met DDB’s, and dogs of various sizes. She will communicate really well if you know the breed.
We are not looking for an average household here, we are looking for someone that knows and appreciates how unique she is and will be able to give her what she needs.
Whoever is lucky enough to be her person or people, will be blessed.
