Most of the time we don't plan to become carers, and often don't even consider ourselves to be 'carers'- we are still partners, loved ones or friends looking after the person we love. Because of this, carers do not often understand their rights and what is available to support them.

As a carer, you may be entitled to benefits and financial support, time off work or flexible working and a carers assessment to identify vital support you may need.

You can talk to your local council to find out the support that is available in your area. If you need support with benefits or you would like emotional support, we are here for you.

You are not alone 🩵

08/06/2026

This week is carers week.

A brain tumour diagnosis shatters the world of families. Roles shift- suddenly you are not only a partner, parent, child or friend. You become a carer, holding everything together for your loved one whilst reeling from the shock of the brain tumour diagnosis and what this means for the future.

Caring for someone with a brain tumour is one of the most profound acts of love. There is no decision to be made because you would do anything for your loved one. But it is so hard. You are still a partner trying to hold your relationship together. Still a parent trying to be there for your children. Still a son or a daughter, roles switched and carrying your own grief.

If you are caring for someone with a brain tumour you are not alone. We are here to support you 💙
