We are a group for parents who practice the principles of Attachment Parenting. We meet regularly for a chat and social with like-minded people. Whilst the ethos of the group is Attachment/Gentle/Natural Parenting and these are our core values we also understand that most parents don't follow AP to the letter (neither do we!). We hope you feel welcomed and supported at our meets whether or not you
deviate from any of the AP principles, however please bear in mind the values of the group at all times. For those who are new to this style of parenting or who wish to learn more, the basis of Attachment Parenting stems from these 8 Principles:
•Preparation for pregnancy, birth and parenthood
•Feed with love and respect
•Respond with sensitivity
•Use nurturing touch
•Ensure safe sleep, physically and emotionally
•Provide consistent, loving care
•Practice positive discipline
•Strive for balance in personal and family life
Services we offer:
• Book Library; we will also have a small but expanding library with books available to loan. Please contact Sarah Phipps for library contents and availability.
• Baby wearing; Peer to Peer Sling advice from our trained Baby wearing Peer Supporter Sarah Pullum, as well as peer to peer support from group members. Please contact Sarah Pullum for further information.
• Cloth Nappies; Gemma Smart is our cloth nappy advisor who will host a regular nappucinos on the 1st Friday of every month and be on hand to offer advice and guidance. Gemma also brings with her a demonstration kit containing lots of nappies for you to look at.
• Breastfeeding Support; we are very fortunate to have lots of breastfeeding support available within the group from other mums, as well as regular attenders that are trained in providing breastfeeding support. Your APUK Facilitators are Jules Mckoy, Kat Symonds, Sarah Phipps & Sarah Pullum. We are all registered APUK group facilitators and this is an affiliated group with APUK (Attachment Parenting UK http://www.attachmentparenting.co.uk/home/4558995836)

APUK West Berkshire meets on the 1st, 3rd and 5th (if applicable) Friday of each month at Thatcham and Area Children's Centre - Lower Way (Lower Way, Thatcham, Berkshire RG19 3RR) and meetings run from 9.30-11.30am. Sessions cost £3 per family to contribute to the running of the group, payments can be made on the day or via PayPal if easier ([email protected]), please send PayPal payments gifted (friends & family) so we can avoid receiving charges.
