The soggy weather didn't put a dampener on things this half-term. Across the week, young people at Prior's Court took part in water play, archery, messy play, a sensory obstacle course, games, a sensory and relaxation session, and a Live Music Now concert.

A big thank you to our Events Team & Therapy Team, who put together a varied programme of sessions throughout the week, and to everyone who helped make it happen in between downpours!

After almost seven years at Prior's Court, Alexander graduated recently and has moved on to his new placement. It's safe to say that we are all going to miss him!

Alexander arrived in August 2019 and made Shirley, Fleming and Henley Houses his home over the years. In that time he has grown so much. In May, he became just the sixth resident of our Children's Home to go on an off-site holiday, heading to CentreParcs alongside one of his peers. It was a trip a long time in the making and absolutely well-deserved.

Wishing Alexander and his family all the very best in his next chapter. We are rooting for you.

We’re excited to be able to offer two places in the iconic 2027 TCS London Marathon.

We’re looking for supporters to follow in the footsteps our 2026 runners Mark and Brandon to take on this challenge and represent Prior’s Court. Whether you run regularly or this would be your first marathon, it is a chance to do something meaningful and support autistic young people with complex needs.

May half-term brought some brilliant days out for young people at Prior's Court.

Over the week, there were trips to Atmosphere Trampoline Park, Furzey Gardens, Hollywood Bowl, and Sailability sessions out on the water aboard the Dame Stephanie Shirley boat. Others enjoyed walks along the Hungerford Canal and a tea shop visit, lunch at Wetherspoons, and time at the beach.

A real mix of experiences, and plenty of fresh air during the scorching weather. Thank you to the staff who planned, organised and supported every one of these trips.

It has been a lovely first week of half term here at Prior’s Court, with lots going on across site.

Young people have spent time in sessions with our Therapies team, enjoyed biscuit decorating for National Biscuit Day, and enjoyed live music sessions in Piper Arts Centre with Live Music Now. The bouncy castle has also been a firm favourite, alongside arts and crafts where butterfly and dormouse houses and suncatchers have been created.

A big thank you to our staff teams who have supported these activities.

Learning indoors in this *very* hot weather brings significant challenges for autistic young people and can lead to missed lessons and opportunities. The good news is, we have a solution –our Outdoor Classrooms appeal.

These spaces will give young people a shaded, cooler place to learn, with UV protection and access to water activities, all while being outside in the fresh air.

With your support, we can work to ensure that next summer learning can continue when the temperatures rise.

This week, Prior's Court delivered yet another 3-Day Structured Teaching course, welcoming over 30 delegates from both within our organisation and from external schools and services.

Structured Teaching is central to how we support autistic young people with complex needs, and these courses exist to share that expertise more widely. Delegates leave with practical, evidence-informed strategies they can apply in their own settings, whether that's a specialist school, a residential provision, or another environment.

We offer a range of Structured Teaching training throughout the year, including the 3-Day course, and 5-Day TEACCH Classroom Training. If you or your team would like to attend, details and booking are in the comments.
