Happy Birthday this week to Ēriks Ešenvalds, composer of the very moving song Only in Sleep, which we will be performing at our next concert on 28th March in St Andrew's, Surbiton. 'Only in Sleep Time is forgotten.' Indeed.

Ola Gjeilo's 'Sunrise Mass' will feature in Ember Choral's Spring Concert this year - written 'to evolve from transparent and spacey to something earthy and warm; from nebulous and pristine, through more emotional landscapes, to ultimately solid groundedness – as a metaphor for human development from child to adult, or as a spiritual journey.' It's incredibly uplifting to listen to and sing.

Thank you to everyone who came along, and celebrated and sang with us on Saturday night at the Ember Choral 2025 Christmas concert in Claygate. It was brilliant fun singing in the choir so we hope you all enjoyed it too. We wish you a Merry Christmas and look forward to even more great music in 2026!

Tonight's the night! Ember Choral's Christmas concert is at 7.30pm at Holy Trinity Church in Claygate. We look forward to seeing you there (and hearing you singing along with the audience carols too!)

Our Christmas concert is fast becoming a tradition in Claygate - come and join us this year on Saturday 6th December at 7.30pm at Holy Trinity Church, KT10 0JP. Tickets are available from [email protected]. We will be singing the Story of Christmas through the music of Rutter, Howells, MacMillan and more, as well as a selection of carols for choir and audience (and yes, it is hard practising Christmas songs in October - but by December it will have been worth it!)

Some of the Ember Choral sopranos (plus a bass who claims he could hit a high G if he ever really needed to) branched out this summer by exploring the poetry trail at Painshill Park. This included a poem by one of our altos!

Can you be-leaf it? Tonight's the night! Ember Choral rehearsals start again tonight, Wednesday 10th September from 19.45 until 21.30 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Thames Ditton. We will also be holding our AGM and sharing a drink to celebrate the start of another great year! If you want to have a try singing with us, please come along and say hello - we're really very friendly.
