Today we weeded an area so it’s ready for planting a tea garden next week, and continued clearing out the barn. It was very wet and windy at times, but we finished with a nice cup of tea and biscuit in the sun ☀️

Next Monday 8th June as part of we will be planting strawberries at our under 5s session with , 10 to 11.30am. All attendees also get to take home their very own strawberry plant to look after at home! Today rain dictated play, so the wonderful Shelley got to work inside and cleared a significant amount of dirt from the floor of the storage barn and started to reveal the wonderful stone floor underneath.

We are delighted to announce that we have received funding from to expand our Thrive in Nature project - a programme that improves the health and wellbeing of women and girls through connection with nature, community, and the land. This funding will enable us to create more spaces that promote wellbeing and biodiversity - including a natural play area for mothers and children under five, a herbal tea garden, a teenage healing garden, and begin the restoration of our historic walled garden into a series of outdoor spaces for reflection, healing, and connection.

Yesterday at our volunteer session we continued making a dead hedge around the under 5s planting area, oiled some outdoor wooden furniture, watered trees, and of course, did more weeding!

Next Tuesday evening David and Tracey from Bucksum farm will be hosting a ‘Risky Risotto’ workshop at Her Land on how to forage and cook with nettles! You will enjoy a risotto, nettle tea, and focaccia, and you will also learn about making nettle crisps, nettle pesto and integrating more variety into your diet.

Lots of different things going on at Her Land today including starting to add some finishing touches to the Under 5s growing area. Sessions are starting with the Red Kite Family Centre on June 1st.
