We are a group of artists, mainly in Tenterden who have secured the former Greyhound Gallery (now renamed TENTERDEN GALLERY) from 1 July 2013. We are open every Friday/Saturday from 10 - 5 and Sunday from 11 - 5. A key feature of the gallery is our community interest. We have given visiting children from Chernobyl and Homewood School, A level Ceramics students the opportunity to exhibit with us. T
here are plans to exhibit work by adults with mental health problems in the future and we are keen to support young and local artists or any worthwhile causes. We aim to be flexible and inclusive but we are a ‘gallery’ and not a ‘craft shop’. Currently the exhibition is changed every four weeks with the addition of work from invited inspirational guests. Demonstrations are an important part of the exhibitions. In 2014 we are using the space for workshops on other days. We prefer guests to exhibit with us for a four week block and the fee for this is £90. As a ‘featured artist’ you would expect a wallspace of approximately 4/5 metres. Alternatively we are offering a ‘small permanent presence’ in the gallery for a monthly fee of £45. For this the space would be smaller and more flexible depending on how busy we are. If you would like a small permanent presence we would expect you to update/ change your work regularly. There are no additional expenses for guests who receive all of the money from their sales. Guests are responsible for hanging/setting up of their own work, it would be much appreciated if after the work has been taken down that walls are made good. Materials will be provided. Guests are requested to steward/demonstrate for an average of one session (3.5 hours) a week while exhibiting. However, it is a good experience being at the gallery, getting feedback and meeting other artists so you would be very welcome to spend more time with us. We advertise for guests locally,via our website, Facebook/Twitter, design a poster/flier/email invitation and we send out a newsletter to our mailing list.
