✨ 8 years of The Hygiene Bank ✨
Eight years ago yesterday, Lizzy Hall MBE took action after watching the film ‘I Daniel Blake’ — an action rooted in compassion, dignity and a belief that no one should have to go without the everyday essentials we often take for granted.
I remember seeing Lizzy’s very first posts and feeling compelled to get involved. I started out as a volunteer, simply wanting to help, I had absolutely taken for granted that access to basic essentials to keep myself and my family clean were a stretch too far for so many. I never imagined how meaningful that first step would become.
Eight years later, I feel incredibly proud to be part of The Hygiene Bank and its journey. 💙
What began with one person’s vision has grown into a movement powered by passionate volunteers, supporters, communities and organisations, all working together to tackle hygiene poverty and make a real difference to people’s lives.
Being part of this charity has reminded me that small acts of kindness can have a huge impact. It’s given me the opportunity to meet inspiring people, be part of something bigger than myself, and contribute to a cause that I genuinely believe in.
So today, I’m celebrating not just eight years of The Hygiene Bank, but the people behind it — especially Lizzy, whose vision started it all, Georgina Loom who has been there too from the early days, and every single person who has helped turn that vision into reality.
I’m proud to have been there from those early days, proud of how far we’ve come, and incredibly grateful to still be part of the journey. 💙
Happy 8th anniversary, The Hygiene Bank. Here’s to everything we’ve achieved together — and to everything still to come.
