We are currently helping with a really bad hoarding situation.

We cannot get any more cats out without foster homes for them to go too.

Foster homes must be cat free and able to keep cats indoors.

⭐ Why Cat Free fosters only on this situation we have heard you ask.

1. We need to know if the cat is eating and eating enough, this can’t be monitored in a multi cat home.

2.They are malnourished and stressed we don’t want to add to their stress as very stressed cats become unwell quickly.

3. We need to know if their bowl movements are ok in the litter tray. This can’t be done in a multi cat home.

4. We don’t know if they are cat friendly.

5. We will not mix unvaccinated cats with vaccinated cats.
Our inbox is full with tales of
“I found a stray cat with cat flu and took it home now my cat has cat flu and is on a drip at the vets can you help me with my 1k vet bill and take the stray cat.

We have the public kill their own cats by brining in un vaccinated cats to their home…. and it happens very often.

I hope this clears things up as to why we are following our vet’s advice as well as best practice guidance whilst using common sense and not putting these cats from a bad hording situation on foster with other cats.

We are looking for a few, 3 week long fosterers while cats wait for their 2nd vaccination.

Homes must be cat free and be able to keep the cats inside at all times.

This is because we do not foster cats that haven’t completed their full vaccinations where they will mix with resident cats, just to be responsible and safe.

Food, vet care and other essentials all provided.
We collect the cat for vet visits.
Some of the cats are dog friendly.
All are people friendly and range in temperament from confident to a little shy to begin with but all are lovely cats.

Smudge is doing very well and we will soon be looking for a foster/foster with a view to adopt home for him.

Welcome to South Pembrokeshire Cat Rescue Smudge

Smudge is an adorable 5-6 week old little tabby and white kitten.

He was sold far too young and he was sold despite clearly suffering from a huge flea and worm burden.

Smudge should be with his mum for at least another 3 weeks.
Not only would this extra time have prevented the risks associated with sudden weaning, which can often cause fading kitten syndrome, it would have also have been better for his behavioural and emotional wellbeing to have had more time with his mum instead of being orphaned at such a tender age.

Smudge was purchased from the breeder and unfortunately the buyers dog was not cat friendly. When the buyer tried to return him the breeder cut all communication leaving them stuck with an unwell, not fully weaned kitten needing urgent rescue assistance.

That’s the risk buyers expose themselves to when they support back yard breeding and really it’s not fair it falls to rescues to pick up the pieces so often when it goes wrong.

If only the buyer had adopted from one of the 10+ rescues that cover Pembrokeshire instead of a backyard breeder.
Smudge is a reminder of why adopt, don’t shop is such an important message.

With each admission we desperately need to keep the fundraising ball rolling.
A kitten like smudge is likely to need close to £300 of funding for his rescue journey.
We also need to replace the expensive but essential Royal Cannin Mother And Baby Cat moose food he needs as an in in between weaning kitten it’s uniquely formulated as a mix of a moose like meaty taste with added kitten milk formula specifically for kittens at Smudges stage of development.

We would be tremendously grateful if we could find 300 people to donate £1 towards Smudges care and keep us being able to be there for the cats and kittens who find themselves in need of very urgent rescue assistance.

We are so please to say Dolly, a previously advertised young black cat has found her forever home.
Dolly did so remarkably well with our extra talented extra special cat whisperer fosterer, so we decided to move Pandora, Dollys sister over to receive the one to one specialist care and straight away just like Dolly, Pandora has blossomed and old Grampa Cat Brian has again been supervising as well as sharing his favourite toy, affectionately known as “spider mouse”.

We are so grateful to our fosterers for providing such a peaceful perfect loving environment for these under socialised young cats to feel so safe they trust so quickly.

Rescue is a team effort and without the tremendous contribution of thousands of volunteer hours and you our followers help, none of these cats would have had any help.

Thank you to everyone for coming together and giving so much so generously from time, experience, love, donations, funds, vet care and support in so many different little and big ways.

Happy Update

We are please to say Tigger passed his adoption day vet check with the dedicated VETS Tŷ Gwyn team being fabulous and fitting him in last minute today to make it all possible.

The wonderful Tigger is now settled with a wonderful family and we are tremendously grateful this special boy finally found his happy ever after.

Thank you to our supporters for donating funds and essential items for his vet care and five week stay with us.
We are grateful to the transport volunteers who drove the three hour round trip to get him from foster, to vets, to his forever home.

Thank you to Market Hall Vets for taking him in and organising his rescue placement.

Happy Update, we would just like to say a huge thank you 🙏 to those amazing supporters who donated yesterday towards Frankie’s spay, it went really well and she is convalescing this evening with her new foster family who we are also very grateful to for welcoming her into their home.

Tremendous thanks are also sent for the VETS Tŷ Gwyn team for caring so well for Frankie today during her surgery.

Welcome to South Pembrokeshire Cat Rescue Frankie.
Frankie is a gorgeous 16 week old ginger female.
Whilst over a friends home the previous owner was offered a free kitten, they felt they couldn’t say no but quickly realised a kitten was completely wrong for them and they didn’t have time or want to do any of the necessary vet care. This became urgent this week when Frankie started being attacked by especially aggressive entire males because she was is in heat.

Volunteers are glad Frankie’s owner reached out when they realised they couldn’t cope.

Frankie has had her admission vet check been flea and wormed, microchipped and started her vaccinations.

She will now be spayed tomorrow and never have to go through being ganged up on and hurt by aggressive males again, an experience which must have been so scary for such a little female.

Thank you to everyone who has donated essential items so we can set up Frankie with everything she needs with a wonderful fosterer.

If anyone could donate a pound or two towards her spay tomorrow it would be greatly appreciated and keep the ball rolling so we can assist more cats and kittens in need of rescue assistance.

Big thank you to Skittles Adoptors for giving an extra kind donation.
We were able to rush straight out and buy some much needed essentials, senior food for Mitzy and cat litter for her on foster.

Kitten food and cat litter for Frankie to set up her on foster placement and some general pouches to use in the rescue traps.

The rest of the donation will go straight back into the rescue for the next cat in need of rescue assistance which is also Frankie who was vet checked and started her vaccinations today and will be spayed tomorrow with the wonderful VETS Tŷ Gwyn.
