We all had a lovely time at yesterdays Florentines WI October meeting.

Natalie from Grandiflora Garden Centre & Bramleys Tearoom, came along and talked to us about getting creative and planting our very own Winter pots and how to plant bulbs ready for Spring! šŸŖ“šŸŒø Natalie gave some really useful advice and tips and also shared some dates with us for some festive wreath making workshops she will be hosting.

It was wonderful to get together, share some ideas and to be able to learn how to add a little colour to our gardens ready for the winter months.

A lovely afternoon of friendship, fun and a bit of gardening! šŸ’šThank you to everyone who came along and made it such an enjoyable meeting. Our President Elaine also decorated our tables with produce and foliage from her garden to go with our theme for this month.

Weā€™re looking forward to seeing how everyoneā€™s winter pots grow especially the winner of the raffle who got to take home a lovely pot as her prize! šŸŒ±āœØ

After a busy summer The Florentines met for a cuppa and a catch up at Marthas Kitchen.

September means everyone is back from their summer trips and there was a lovely atmosphere with alot of laughter and friendship and we also had some new members joining us.

Here's to a lovely Autumn and Winter schedule ahead. The next meeting will be held on Monday 12th October in St Florence Village Hall at 1.45 and our speaker this month will be Natalie from Grandiflora Garden Centre who will be showing us how to plant a Winter / Spring pot.

New members are always warmly welcomed.

The Florentines (St. Florence WI) met yesterday after our summer break.

Our speaker this month was Jane who came to talk to us about her collection of Japanese literature, exchange visits and Japanese items she has collected over the years. Jane presented a marvellous display of Japanese kimonos ranging from everyday cottons to the most sumptuous silks used for weddings and major events. Jane was a thoroughly engaging speaker and after her talk some of the WI ladies got to try on some of the kimonos and accessories.

There was also refreshments and it was so lovely to be back together and we had some new members as well and they were warmly welcomed.

The Florentines WI are based in St Florence village near Tenby. Our local church is holding a Fete with Manorbier Church in Manorbier Castle on Saturday 22nd August between 4pm and 8pm.

Funds raised at this fete will support the churches in both St Florence and Manorbier.

There will be stalls and refreshments and a fantastic raffle.

Last week St Florence WI met up in one of our members gardens for brunch.

On this page we thought we would tell you a bit about what some of our St Florence WI ladies get up to when not attending WI meetings or coffee mornings.

First to do this is our member, Margaret, who provided us with some fantastic pictures of her patio which she established 8 years ago. It is mainly pots planted with a mix of seasonal plants, perennials and a few small trees for height and texture. There are two raised beds which are for the climbing Clematis, roses and Jasmine. These beds have some evergreen shrubs and winter climbers and plants in them. In late summer Margaret will change some of the plants to a mix of winter bedding and of course lost of spring bulbs.

Margaret says this patio area changes with the seasons and provides a little space of her own which she can quietly enjoy.

We hope you enjoy looking at these photos and hearing all about Margarets fantastic space.

Last week The Florentines (St Florence WI) had a summer visit to Manorbier Castle. We were greeted by Katie (the Castle Manager) who told us all about the history, ownership and how the Castle is managed.

We all then enjoyed the most amazing tea, coffee and cake in what must have been the coolest location in Pembrokeshire! It was a stunning location and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the morning.

A huge thank you for Katie and all her team for a wonderful visit and we will be back soon x

Julys meeting was accompanied by chilled drinks and ice cream to tie in with the hot weather.
The speaker was Maureen Davies who presented her talk on making textile jewellery which she designs and makes from metals, felt, glass and beads.
Maureen was a super talented and engaging speaker and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
