Shropshire Youth Support Trust We were a charity that supported young people within Shropshire, aged between 16-30, who weren’t in employment, education or training.

The Shropshire Youth Support Trust (SYST) is a youth charity that runs an Enterprise Centre for disadvantaged young people in Shropshire. It is a hub to help young unemployed people in the local area to have the opportunity to utilise their talents and potential so they can run a profitable and viable business. SYST provides the space and support for young disadvantaged people to create a job for

themselves, maximising their business and personal potential, leading to financial independence. It provides subsidised business space, coupled with intensive business advice and personal support, and innovative sales opportunities (generically known as business incubation). Long term the Charity will support regeneration in the Shropshire area by developing local enterprise and creating employment opportunities in the surrounding community. For the SYST target group, working for themselves is a way of overcoming difficulties in securing a job. The beneficiaries do not have the means or covenants to take on commercial premises. The Centres offer subsidised studios/workshops, (rising to commercial rates over two years,), pop-up retail, co-working desks and more alongside intensive business advice and support to clients provided by a Centre Manager and volunteer mentors.

New leadership team at Shropshire Youth Support Trust.

After a decade of dedicated service, Richard Nuttall has recently stepped down as Chief Executive of Shropshire Youth Support Trust (SYST).

Richard joined SYST in 2015 and played a pivotal role in expanding the charity’s impact, helping many young people in Shropshire overcome barriers to self-employment, training, and employment opportunities. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and the lasting positive difference he has made to our community.

Looking ahead, we remain fully committed to supporting young people in Shropshire and are excited about the plans we are developing with our team at SYST. Further details about this coming soon.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the individuals and organisations that continue to support our charity.

Next Wednesday 22nd January 2025 1-3pm we are at Tenpin Telford again providing some fully funded activities for young people in Telford & Wrekin aged 16-24 who are not in employment, education or training! 🎳 🎤 🎱 🏓

This collaboration with Tenpin Telford has been created to provide a fun and engaging environment for young people whilst aiding in their personal and professional development. Participants will have access to tenpin bowling, karaoke, pool, table tennis and more, as a means to build social skills, teamwork and confidence.

Whilst enjoying these fully funded activities, the participants will be working closely with our team at SYST as we help them with progressing their careers and personal lives through our tailored support, mentorship and resources.
