We are all prepped for a full day of planting tomorrow to create the beginnings of the “Blue Border”
500 mixed daffs are in, topsoil added, and tomorrow we are planting in 88 lavender “Munstead”, 44 verbena “Borariensis” and 44 Aster “Novi-Belgii Blue”

Special thanks to The Shrewsbury and Newport Canals Trust volunteers for helping with preparing the trench and shifting all the top soil.

You’ll be able to see the border from The Welldeck at Wappenshall Wharf whilst you enjoy delicious cake and coffee. 🍰👩‍🌾🍰☕️👩‍🌾🌺

What a busy day that was, I think we all need a lie down now.
We planted 20 cherry trees to create the cherry tree walk, refreshed the planters for autumn, shifted 1.5 tons of topsoil, about a ton of mulch, more weeding.
We planted all the donated plants that arrived last week - thanks for the donations and please do keep them coming.

Today’s volunteers were :🥰👍🥰👍😍😍😍♥️
Alan, Jayne, Penny, Kim, Andi and new volunteer Jill
Thanks everyone, great progress 👩‍🌾👩‍🌾👩‍🌾👩‍🌾👩‍🌾👩‍🌾

Have you visited The Welldeck at Wappenshall Wharf cafe yet? If so, you will have seen the community garden we are establishing through volunteers and grant funding. The gardens are designed to soften the hard landscaping, to complement the stunning canal basin and Grade II listed buildings to provide a haven for wildlife, to give our customers somewhere nice to sit and enjoy the outdoors and to provide flowers and vegetables for the cafe.

We are also looking for new volunteers to help with planting and maintenance, a few hours every couple of weeks on a Friday or Saturday or to suit yourself. Please get in touch; details are on the poster.

Watch the process of Adam Inkversion Mural Artist creating this stunning mural of Thomas Telford, which is part of the bigger mural across the whole wall which should be finished very soon 😀
The work is so detailed and is very impressive, pop down to The Welldeck at Wappenshall Wharf The Shrewsbury and Newport Canals Trust and take a look for yourself.

Hi Everyone,
The Shrewsbury and Newport Canals Trust, Wappenshall Wharf Community Garden is funded entirely by donations and grants and we couldn’t develop and maintain the site without our volunteers.
We desperately need some garden tools including:
Garden Forks, Spades, Hoe’s, Grass Rakes, Metal rakes, kneeling pads and hand tools.
Preferably lightweight as many of our volunteers are ladies and need smaller sized tools.
Any help much appreciated, this means we will have more funds to spend on plants 🌺🌸🌺🌸
Please do drop them off at The Welldeck at Wappenshall Wharf 😍
Thanks so much
