🎉 Fantastic news for our Armed Forces community in Telford and Wrekin! 🇬🇧
💷 Over £670,000 of new funding is on the way to boost support for veterans in the Borough.
This investment will create the first Valour recognised Hub in the West Midlands at the The Christopher Turley Armed Forces Community Hub in Dawley. 🌟
The Hub will open more often and bring together a wider network of organisations 🤝, making support easier, faster and more accessible than ever for veterans and their families. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💬
This is a huge step forward in strengthening housing, health and wellbeing, skills, employment and welfare support.
A lasting legacy for our Armed Forces family. 🫡
The Hub is a partnership between Telford & Wrekin Council, Great Dawley Town Council and Telford Mind, working together to make a real difference. 🤝

Today it was an honour to attend the funeral of Eddie Mansfield.

Kayleigh, Eddie’s granddaughter, did him proud. The service was beautiful and a touching tribute to a much loved man.

Eddie will always be remembered on Telford’s Veteran Trail, where he has a plaque honouring his service. He also supported us on many occasions with standard bearing, something he carried out with great pride and dedication.

Our thoughts are with Eddie’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. 🌹

International Women’s Day – Honouring Our Female Veterans

Today, on International Women’s Day, we recognise and celebrate the incredible women who have served in our Armed Forces.

Female veterans have played vital roles across every branch of the military, serving with courage, skill, and dedication both at home and overseas. From operational deployments to leadership roles, their contribution to our nation’s security and freedom cannot be overstated.

Here in Telford, we are proud to recognise the women who have served and continue to serve our community after military life. Their resilience, professionalism and commitment are an inspiration to us all.

As we reflect today, we say thank you to all female veterans for your service, sacrifice, and the paths you have helped pave for future generations of women in the Armed Forces.

Lest we forget, and today, we especially remember the women who served.

We have been advised by Eddie Mansfield’s family that his funeral will take place at Telford Crematorium on Saturday 14th March 2026 at 10:15am.

Eddie was a valued supporter of Telford’s Veteran Trail and a familiar, friendly presence at so many events. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Family have asked that no black is worn (other than by uniformed personnel). In place of flowers, a donation box will be available for Macmillan Cancer Support.

We are heartbroken to hear that the legend Eddie Mansfield passed away yesterday.

Eddie was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Our sincere sympathies go to his granddaughter Kayleigh and her partner Nathan, who did an incredible job caring for Eddie with such love and dedication.

Our thoughts are with you all at this very difficult time. 🕊️

Armed forces veterans are set to benefit from a new Homes for Veterans Scheme.

The housing scheme will see the Council purchase 10 properties, as part of its Telford & Wrekin Homes programme, which will be prioritised for veterans and give them priority access to high‑quality, secure housing.
