Just over two weeks until the next Prostate Screening event at the Abraham Darby Academy. It's on Sunday 5th July and there are just a few remaining places.

We've been working with Thomas Telford Primary Free School to provide 'Kindness Boxes' to both them and their Thomas Telford Academy colleagues at Redhill Primary School. The contents of the Kindness Boxes, toiletries and other essentials, were selected by pupils and will be freely available to pupils and parents.

Yesterday pupils both both schools and a couple of Lions went along to collect the goods from Asda Donnington. Once back at the schools the contents were loaded into the Kindness Boxes.

This has been a collaborative project that we have thoroughly enjoyed. Our thanks to the school pupils and staff for their support and engagement.

Ironbridge & Severn Gorge Lions are offering their trailer to any Lions District 105CN club. The trailer measures approximately 8ft in length (3ft for tow frame) by 6 ft wide and 8ft at its high point. PM if interested.

Lion David, and his partner Carol, went along to meet Sharon at The Dawley Christian Centre Food Bank and Meena at The Madeley Baptist Church Food Bank to make donations of food and personal hygiene goods. The donations recognise the great work that both groups play within their local communities.

The purchases were made using funds from our National Lottery Grant.

Ironbridge Lions have been supporters of Ironbridge Coracle Trust for many years and have recently made a donation to further support their work.

Ironbridge Coracle Trust is a small voluntary charity which is working to preserve the story of coracles in the Gorge. It has set up a small free museum to tell the story.
It has also conserved and maintains the old coracle shed in Ironbridge – probably the last in England.

We are very pleased to be in a position to make a further donation to the BBroseley Bellringersrestoration appeal.

All Saints Broseley originally had a peal of six
bells which were cast in 1844 and hung in an
oak frame. Two additional smaller bells were
cast in 1949 and hung in a steel frame, making
a peal of eight.

The appeal is raising funds to send the bells to the bell foundry
to remove the crown staples. The bells will also be retuned to make them sound more harmonious as a peal of eight.

Lions Colin, David & Graham met Claire and Andy from Lingen Davies Cancer Support earlier today. We made a donation towards their £5 million Sunflower Appeal to grow cancer care across our region through the creation of a Lingen Davies Chemotherapy Centre in Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital, which will be up and running by 2029.

Until the end of June 2026 Telford & Wrekin Council are match funding donations to the appeal...this will increase our donation to £1,000.

Telford First Responders (CFR) scheme is a life-saving partnership of volunteers working with West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) in the Telford Area.

Broseley and Much Wenlock Community First Responders (CFR) are a volunteer group also working alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service to provide emergency response and care across the Broseley, Ironbridge and Much Wenlock areas.

Recognising the increasing costs of fuel, vehicle repair, maintenance and insurance Ironbridge Lions have recently made donations to both groups.
