It has been a delight to work with our colleague from Telford & Wrekin Council Housing Options team for a number of years. We wish her well as she moves on to new things.

Her engagement as a committed partner, her willingness to get 'involved at street level, and steadfast commitment to individuals experiencing rough sleeping have been exemplary.

Her contributions to the shaping of local processes and improving outcomes for some of the most vulnerable members of our community has been significant and highly valued by us at KiP.

This weeks reflection:

We celebrate how the KiP Team were able to make a positive difference in the lives of several people seeking support from KiP.

Among the successes are two individuals who had been homeless and rough sleeping, found drenched early morning by the team, and are now safely accommodated.

This outcome was made possible through the collective efforts of The Salvation Army Charity Shop Wellington, a private landlord and the committed KiP team who provided emotional and practical support.

We acknowledge with gratitude our funders who enable us to do this. They include the National lottery, individual donors, outreach grant from the Telford & Wrekin Council and local organisations who support the work.

Together, we helped these individuals secure accommodation, remain together, and access the immediate support they needed. It is another reminder of what can be achieved when organisations and communities work together to restore dignity, hope, and stability.

Today, on World Mental Health Day and World Homeless Day, we at KiP recognise the powerful link between mental wellbeing and having a safe place to call home.

Good mental health and secure housing are fundamental to living with dignity, hope, and opportunity.

Too many people face the challenge or struggling with both.

KiP will take time to listen, support, and advocate for them in accessing services that help them to thrive, not just survive.

As a charity, in the third sector (not for profit) we stand with everyone facing these challenges and celebrate the dedicated staff, volunteers, and organisations working every day to provide support, compassion, hope, and that help people thrive, not just survive. 🎈

A great evening at the Telford Sleep Out ahead of World Homeless Day.

I was delighted to be joined by Alison from Newport Beds, one of this year's event sponsors, to judge the Best "Rough Sleeper Habitat" competition.

The winning team of three friends had planned a night out together, with one of them choosing the venue. Let's just say it wasn't quite the night the other two were expecting! 😄

A huge thank you to Sam and her amazing team at Stay for their hard work and dedication in making the Sleep Out such a success. Your commitment keeps this important event going year after year.

Thank you also to everyone who sponsored those taking part. Your generosity will help both Stay and KiP continue supporting people affected by homelessness and work towards reducing rough sleeping in our community.

As always, it was a privilege to support this event. The camaraderie, generosity and community spirit on display were wonderful to see, but so too was the reminder of why events like this matter so much.

World Homeless Day takes place on 10th October, an important day for KiP and the many charities and community interest companies (CICs) working across Telford to support people experiencing homelessness.

Every weekday, we work alongside Telford & Wrekin Council, sharing intelligence and information to ensure those who are homeless or sleeping rough receive the best possible support and services.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone taking part in this Friday's Sleep Out and to those who are independently raising much-needed funds to support KiP's work.

This year, we're inviting our supporters, workplaces, churches, schools, and community groups to join us in marking World Homeless Day through fundraising activities.

Whether it's a quiz night, bake sale, sponsored sleep-out, workplace challenge, or simply making a donation, every contribution helps us continue supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

World Homeless Day reminds us that, together, we can break down the barriers that keep people trapped in homelessness and create pathways to a brighter future.

It was good to greet Dave from The Homeless & Hungry Charity who dropped into the KiP Day Centre earlier today.
He such a lovely guy, who came bearing brand new tops for those we support, homeless and living on the Streets in Telford and Wrekin.

Li, our volunteer was delighted to see such generosity and even more the smile of appreciation of one of our customers who had just had a shower, ready for an important meeting at 1pm today. As she left us to catch the bus there was a definite spring in her step.
