ANOTHER REASON FOR THE KiP TEAM TO
CELEBRATE 🎈🎈🎈 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈
As they are awarded another years much needed funding to continue its Urban KiP Outreach Service to those homeless and rough sleeping.
Funding Context: 2026–2027
For the 2026–2027 financial year, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has reformed its approach to homelessness funding by consolidating several existing programmes into a single, multi‑year, ring‑fenced grant.
The Key Changes to Funding for 2026-2027 being
🎈Consolidation of Funding Streams: The former Rough Sleeping Initiative (RSI), Rough Sleeping Accommodation Programme (RSAP) and Homelessness Prevention Grant (HPG) have been merged into the new Homelessness,
Rough Sleeping and Domestic Abuse Grant.
🎈Revised Funding Model: Rather than bidding for separate, time‑limited funding pots, local authorities now receive a direct, multi‑year allocation, calculated on the basis of assessed local need.
2026–2027 Funded Programmes
🎈Homelessness, Rough Sleeping and Domestic Abuse Grant: This grant supports activity across homelessness prevention and relief, temporary accommodation, and rough sleeping services.
Local Authority Commissioning
🎈Telford & Wrekin Council has agreed that a proportion of its combined, ring‑fenced homelessness funding allocation will be awarded to KiP Outreach to deliver Urban KiP Outreach Services, supporting the Council’s response to rough sleeping within the borough, ensuring anyone faced with rough sleeping has support across the partnerships and the multi partnership Rough Sleeping Taskforce.
🎈Alan Olver MBE Chair of Trustees
said “we are so thrilled that KiP has been awarded another years essential funding to continue the outreach work, alongside our partners, to reduce and prevent rough sleeping”
He said “Here in Telford and Wrekin we are streets ahead of many in the prevention of rough sleeping, but there is more to do, so individuals don’t have to resort to the streets to lay their heads.”
He gave tribute to the small KiP staff team engaged in these frontline services.
