Good Morning, everyone.
I'm putting up the details of a beautiful touring exhibition of textile artwork called Threads through the Bible by Jacqui Parkinson, Textile Artist.
The closest venues to us are Chester Cathedral 9 May-28 June, and Lichfield Cathedral 10 October- 23 November, if anyone is interested in a closer look.
The link to the website is below, which contains a video of the BBC North West interview when the exhibition was first revealed, and a few photos of the stunning pieces included.
I have also added a link to a tour of the exhibition itself when it was at Southwell Minster last year, for those who might find it difficult to travel in person, or who would like to know more.

I popped into the Corner Patch at Eccleshall today, and was asked to share this. I'm sorry it's short notice, but since we had such a great time in the summer making the Linus quilts, I thought I'd let you know. - Joy.

We are having another Charity Sewing Day in Eccleshall to sew quilts for children and young people in need.
Date: Sunday 19th October, 10am - 4pm
Where: Eccleshall Community Centre

Please come and join us - you don't need to be able to sew! We can teach you, or find you another job.
It's a fun, friendly day with lots of tea, coffee, cake and chat while making quilts to provide comfort to disabled and disadvantaged children and young people.
There is a small charge (£5) to help cover the cost of the hall.
Lunch is available at an additional £5.
(Please let me know if you are coming and would like lunch.)

If you can bring your own sewing machine, and extension lead, and any fabrics or thread to donate, that would be helpful.
All ages welcome from 6 years up (children must be accompanied by an adult).
For more information pop into The Corner Patch in The Arcade, or get in touch by the usual means.
See you there.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 24th September where we will have a workshop with Sandy Densem, and if you are visiting and wish to take part, you will need to bring scraps of cotton , silk, or lace or combinations of these. Some plain colours and some prints. About 2” each or more, and irregular shapes are better than neatly cut pieces! Also cotton threads and a sewing kit. Sandy will supply a base fabric and some scraps as well.
Our raffle theme is nerines (pink), and we look forward to seeing you at 7.15pm for 7.45pm at St John's Church, Muxton.

We will be doing some Slow Stitching making Bunting to embellish the speaker's table; if you are new, we can help with materials for the project.
There is a raffle, for which tickets are £1, for a decorated bag of sewing-related items on the theme of Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte.
Our speaker last meeting was Nicola Jarvis, and I've attached some photos of her work

Our next meeting is on the 23rd of July 2025 at 7-15 for a 7-45 start. Entry is free for members and £5 for non-members.

We have Nicola Jarvis coming along to give us a talk entitled ‘Life in Seasons’.

“In this colourful and striking presentation I will tell you the story of how I was inspired to design and make 16 embroidered artworks […] which were all informed by my local countryside and wildlife”

The raffle theme is The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Clune (sky blue/azure). Please contribute to the contents of the bag for our raffle.

We had an enjoyable time making quilts for the Linus project on Saturday 28th June, despite the heat!
