Lighthouse is not your typical business. We are a not for profit established by local people with the intention of promoting wellbeing in our area. The science of wellbeing is still young, although the art is ancient. We hope to marry the two by offering activities and events that will boost everyone's sense of wellbeing as well as boosting social connections. We are running projects ranging from

Beach and Forest School to community planting to boost our local environmental diversity, sustainability and resilience. Wildflowers, woods and beaches make us very happy!

We are a little bit broken and a lot fed up with this further application to remove The Black Poplar as part of the Higher Exeter Rd development.

An objection will be going in.

We thought all the trees that needed to be killed had been.

The TPO does not protect this tree.

Yet it shades is, sequesters and transmutes carbon, is a place for wildlife, soaks up gallons of rain water, running down a steep hill and lives in an ecological corridor.

It’s the tallest tree in miles. It’s leaves shimmer on a breezy day. It’s part of our hearts - as is all of our landscape.
