RIP
On behalf of Teesside Poker, I’d like to pass on our sincere condolences to the family of Wayne Sheekey. ❤️
To us, Wayne wasn’t just a Grosvenor manager — even though he was an amazing one!
Sometimes you come across people who are just different, in the most wonderful of ways. Wayne was one of those people. Always with a smile, and always someone who had time to listen to you.
He was constantly looking at ways of making things better for all of us, particularly during his time at Gala Teesside.
Even when he eventually moved to Grosvenor Newcastle, he was always genuinely pleased to see you and, once again, would give you as much of his time as you wanted.
He was a friend and a great human being. The world has lost a top, top bloke.
When I spoke to Wayne after his heart attack earlier this year, he said something that I’d like to share:
“These events remind you of how important life is and to make sure that you live life to the full.”
Those words seem even more poignant now.
Wayne, the news of your passing has come as a complete and devastating shock to us all. You will be sorely missed.
RIP Wayne. ❤️❤️
Wayne’s family would also like to thank Phil Dales, who arranged some flowers as a lovely gesture from his friends in our community. Phil told me that Fairfield Florist in Stockton opened especially for him on Bank Holiday so that he could organise the flowers on behalf of us all at Teesside Poker.
