The League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital

The League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital The League was formed in 1954 as a joint league with two other hospitals.

The Friends is an essential part of the community supporting staff and patients of TMH by enabling and enhancing the provision of medical services, facilities and general improvements above the NHS baseline, ensuring the hospital's long-term future. In 1981 it became a separate League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital and has worked continuously since then to improve facilities and equipm

ent at this much valued community Hospital. In 2009 the League of Friends became an incorporated organisation (a company limited by guarantee) registered at Companies House Number 6956457 and registered with the Charity Commission as The League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital with the registered charity number 1130645.

Join Richmond CVS for an in-person Volunteer Coordinators' Forum to discuss key topics and network with other Coordinators.

ETNA Community Centre, Twickenham
Tuesday 7 July • 10 AM - 12 PM

If you recruit and manage volunteers within the borough of Richmond, join us for the Richmond Volunteer Coordinators’ Forum where we can share ideas and discuss the key issues in our day-to-day work with volunteers.

In the first part of the Forum, we will explore the difficult topic of volunteers who might no longer be suited for their role due to issues of health or capacity, what the issues are, and best practice for handling this sensitively.

Whatever the issues you are currently facing, the Coordinators’ Forum is an opportunity to discuss and share them and seek ideas and feedback from colleagues.

You will also have time to hear relevant updates and network with colleagues over tea and coffee.

This Forum is for Volunteer Coordinators, or anyone with responsibility for recruiting and managing volunteers working in the borough of Richmond.

Nature Walk on Barnes Common, Vine Road Recreation Ground, Barnes
Thursday 18 June • Starts at 6 PM

Come along on this guided walk and explore our fantastic local nature reserve with BCL's Chair, Mike Hildesley.

Join Chair, Mike Hildesley, on an evening walk around the main areas of the Common. In summer, the flower meadows of this small nature reserve are teeming with butterflies and bees, and the woodlands are full of birdsong - the most common are Robins and Wrens, but if you're lucky, you may spot a black and white Great Spotted Woodpecker, or the more reclusive, brightly coloured Green Woodpecker. If it's a warm evening, Stag Beetles may take to wing, and before sunset, Swifts will be screaming and hunting for insect prey in the sky.

During the walk, we’ll look at our various habitats: meadows, woodlands, acid grassland, the orchard that is a former railway goods yard, and talk about our conservation work. You can also find out more about our concerns with local water quality, the impact of climate change and improving the wellbeing of our community.

This walk will start and finish at The Pavilion at Vine Road Park where you can fill your water bottle from the drinking fountain. It will last around two hours, but you can drop off at any time.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. If the weather is warm, you may wish to bring a bottle of water.

Free Workshop: Talk Listen Connect. Thu 18 Jun 2026, 10am - 12pm (online)

Staff, trustees and volunteers from voluntary and community organisations in Richmond borough are invited to join this free online awareness session.

At any given time, 20% of people say they feel lonely - and loneliness is known to be a cause and contributor to mental and physical ill health.

During Loneliness Awareness Week, we want to help tackle the issue and this invitation is for anyone in our local sector who would also like to play their part.

Talk Listen Connect (TLC) is an initiative run by Princess Alice Hospice in conjunction with Compassionate Communities UK, to help reduce the impacts of loneliness and social isolation that can be created by illness, grief or loss.

Led by their Head of Volunteering, the session will offer peer discussion on supporting those who might be struggling and show us how we can all be part of a more compassionate community.

Register now and see how you could be part of the TLC movement.
