Another lucky camper story from the Larick!

We have a lovely couple travelling in their VW pop-top campervan, and what a story they had to tell!

Back in 2022, Yvonne entered a prize draw through Aspire Competions Limited and bought just 3 tickets costing a total of £5.77. Amazingly, the winning ticket was number 28188, which had cost them just £1.79! That one little ticket won their fantastic VW campervan.

As if that wasn't enough, part of the prize included a £500 donation to a charity of their choice, and Yvonne chose the wonderfull Strathcarron Hospice.

Their campervan also has a very special name - 'Tosh'. The name comes from Alan's late brother's dog, who had a habit of disappearing during hill walks, but her brother always left his coat as the dog would casually turn up the next days as if nothing had happened!

It's amazing to think that a £1.79 ticket led to years of adventures, new friendships and plenty of memories on the road. We are delighted to welcome them to The Larick Campsite and hear about their win.

Have you ever won anything that completely changed your life? Let us know in the comments!

You must book ahead to reserve a pitch. Many people have been disappointed this week. We are popular because our rates are the same as last year, electricity is included in the price of a pitch, dogs are FREE and Tayport is just a fabulous location with Tentsmuir forest right on our doorstep. You can get buses to visit other areas such as St Andrews, The home of golf or Dundee, the V& A, Discovery and Verdant works. [email protected]

Well, it's been another busy weekend with yet another Duke of Edinburgh Bronze training group staying with us!

This time we welcomed a fantastic group from Boomerang Community Centre in Dundee, who arrived after putting in the miles as part of their training expedition.

After a long day of walking, there was no collapsing into camping chairs for this lot! They even brought their own yoga trainer to help stretch out those tired legs and loosen up after the day's trek.

It was quite a sight seeing the group swapping hiking boots for yoga mats, but judging by the smiles afterwards, it was exactly what they needed!

We're always impressed by the determination and teamwork shown by the young people taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. It takes commitment, resilience and plenty of enthusiasm and this group certainly had all three.

We hope everyone from Boomerang Community Centre enjoyed their stay with us and wish them the very best with the rest of their Bronze Award journey. Good luck and keep walking!

We've had a lovely family staying with us this weekend, and their way of travelling really caught our attention!

Instead of packing up the car or heading off in a motorhome, they travel everywhere by train and bike. Their adventures start the moment they leave home, hopping on trains with their bikes and exploring wherever the tracks take them.

Over the last few days they've been out discovering Edinburgh and the local area of Tayport on two wheels, making the most of the beauitiful weather and the fantastic cycle routes around Tayport. The children loved playing with the toys here and have been absolute stars, clocking up miles that would put many adults to shame!

It's always fscinating hearing the different ways our visitors choose to travel, and this family's eco-friendly adventures have certainly inspired us.

Whereever their next train journey takes them, we wish them safe travels and plenty more family adventures.

Have you ever holidayed by train and bike? We'd love to hear about your adventures!

We get interesting arrivals at The Larick...but today's backpacker definitely wins for determination!

Paul arrived in the afternoon and told us he started his journey all the way down in Dover.... on a skateboard!

So far it's taken him 29 days to reach Tayport, travelling mile after mile with just his backpack and skateboard. His goal now is to make it all the way to Thain before heading back home - and he's only got 9 days left before he has to return to work!

You have to admire the commitment and the leg muscles.

Stories like this are one of the things Bob and I like most about warden campsite life - you never know who's going to turn up or what adventure they're in the middle of.

Safe travels and good luck with the final stretch!

Another memorable story from The Larick this week!

A lovely couple arrived in their motorhome ready to enjoy a few days in Tayport. Her husband, Peter fancied a bike ride over to Dundee, while she was quite happy with the idea of getting the bus instead!

But after Bob described the route and encouraged them to give it a go, iff they pedalled on what was meant to be a lovely day out....

Unfortunately things didn't quite go to plan when she came off her bike in Dundee and ended up taking an unexpected trip in an ambulance with two fractures.

Thankfully, the kindness if Tayport residents Connor & Ashley, wgo arrived at the scene, called for the paramedics, stayed with them and offered to bring their bikes back to the motorhome for them. What stars.

After a long evening of x-rays and hospital visits, they finally made it back late last night. Today everyone met up for a meal and a catch-up so they could properly thank Connor and Ashley for their help.

It's moments like this that remind us camping is more than just pitches and motorhomes - it's the people you meet along the way.

Wishing you a speedy recovery fron The Larick Bob & Pauline
