All of our projects use mentors that have been through the process of leaving the military and have themselves gone through the archaeology recovery pathway. Our mentors come from across the military spectrum and are drawn from all ranks, providing an 'esprit de Corps' and military ethos including the all important 'banter' that helps make these projects both unique and successful. We also get experts from the archaeological community for our projects to ensure that our participants get the best possible training and supervision that is available.

Help Sean Keep Digging

Many of you know Sean, a Falklands War veteran with a tale or two to tell. But what you may not know is how heritage changed his life.

At 68, Sean has just earned a First Class degree in archaeology from the University of Bradford - a remarkable achievement at any age, and one made possible through sheer determination, a love of history, and the healing power of heritage.

After years of struggling with PTSD, it was through veteran-led archaeological projects that Sean found peace, purpose, and a renewed sense of identity. Through these projects he didn’t just rediscover history - he rediscovered himself.

Now, Sean wants to give back.

He’s been offered the chance to pursue a Master’s degree in archaeology, specialising in sites of conflict - a path that aligns perfectly with his lived experience and his commitment to supporting other veterans.

But due to rigid age limits on postgraduate funding, Sean can’t access financial support. That’s where we can help.

This isn’t a handout. It’s a hand-up - to help Sean continue the work that’s changed his life, and the lives of many others.

Your donation will go directly toward tuition fees, study materials, and helping Sean stay on the path of growth, recovery, and service. Every contribution brings him closer to the next chapter, not just as a student, but as a mentor, role model, and advocate for trauma-informed heritage work. Sean says it best himself:

“Have a crack. The last thing you want is to be sitting by the fire in your slippers wondering ‘what if?’ It’s never too late to try.” — Sean
