Monthly coffee and cake break for people working from home or running a business in the Brendons

This Friday from 11.30am till 1pm, there will be coffee (proper), teas and cake in the café area of St Peter's, Huish Champflower. £2 for a hot drink and cake. There is milk or water for children, and an indoor play area. All very welcome.

Running alongside will be Brendons Business Break for people who work from home, or run businesses in the area.

Open House Café and Brendons Business Break will be back after the summer break on Friday 25th October at St Peter's, Huish Champflower. The café will be open from 11.30am till 1pm.

We'll be serving cakes, coffee, teas, including herbal ones. £2 for a drink and cake. All very welcome at the café. Running alongside will be Business Break for people working from home to take time out for a chat and catch up.

Open House Café is held monthly at St Peter’s, Huish Champflower, with coffee and homemade cake for anyone and everyone.

Open House has grown out of Brendons Business Break which is a get-together for people who work from home or run businesses. It’s a chance to meet other home workers and business people from the area.

Open House and Business Break are both held in the café area of St Peter’s at the same time. It is a beautiful and deeply peaceful setting in the medieval church. There is a warm welcome, and lots of conversation. A children’s area has toys, games and drawing things.

Cake with coffee or tea, including chamomile and rooibos, costs £2.

The café is generally held on the Friday before the third Sunday of the month; the date is always posted on Facebook.

It runs from 11.30am till 1pm.

Various people have said they would like to come to a monthly coffee & cake café in St Peter’s, but as they don’t work from home, haven’t been able to join in with Business Break.

So, we’ll be running Open House café for everyone, alongside Business Break on (usually) the last Friday of the month.

The next session of Business Break and Open House is this Friday, 31st May, from 11.30pm till 1pm in the café area of St Peter’s, Huish Champflower.

All welcome. Bring your mum, dad, baby, friends and enjoy some cake in the beautiful and peaceful setting of St Peter’s.

So many of us in the Brendons work from home running businesses or working remotely for large organisations.

Brendons Business Break is a monthly get-together for home-based workers, to chat over coffee and cake. We compare notes about work matters or forget them altogether for an hour or so.

Running alongside Business Break is Open House café, for everyone. Bring your mum, dad, baby, friends, or just yourself.

Business Break and Open House are generally on the last Friday of the month. The next session is on Friday 25th October from 11.30am until 1pm in the café area of St Peter’s Church, Huish Champflower. Coffee and cake £2; proceeds to St Peter's funds.

Thank you to everyone who came to the first Brendons Business Break coffee and cake session last month, for people in and around Huish Champflower who work from home or run a business. It was great to be into double figures for a first get-together, especially as there had been minimal publicity.

The February get-together will be on Friday 23rd, at St Peter's, Huish Champflower in the café area. Then, as the last Friday in March is Good Friday, we'll meet a week earlier on Friday 22nd.

The timing has been adjusted to 11.30am-1pm as most people came between noon and 1pm, over their lunch break. Please feel free to bring your own sandwiches etc. Coffee, teas and cake will be available. (Hot drink and cake £2.)

If you are planning to come, please wrap up warm—there were some excellent bobble hats worn to our February session.

For people working from home or running a business in Huish Champflower and surrounding parishes, there is a new group starting called Business Break with coffee and cake. It will meet monthly, on the last Friday, from 11am till 1pm so that people can take the time as their lunch break. Bring a packed lunch if you like. The first get-together is on Friday 26th January, and the second is on Friday 23rd February.

The idea is that it will be a chance to get to know other home-based workers in the area, compare notes, have some human contact and chat, all over coffee and cake.

It will be held in the café area of the beautiful and peaceful St Peter’s Church, Huish Champflower, by kind permission of the churchwardens, Denise and Julie. The group has been set up by Lucy Sloan and Marc Vyvyan-Jones, and they are pleased to report that offers of help from other home-based workers have been coming in already. So far we’ve been offered cake, coffee beans and a coffee grinder from various people.

It will be an opportunity for those ‘water cooler’ conversations which you don’t have working home alone. And talking of cooler…if you are going to come along, please wrap up very warm!
