As we are engrossed with our relaunch of the SDA, so we are also linked to our neighbours. To those of you that may live near Trowbridge, or close to the Wiltshire border, you may be interested in this FREE EVENT which has arrived via email. If this may be of interest to you, please contact the agency via the email quoted below:

Dyslexia Awareness Event & Celebration (free event)
Thursday 10th July at 2 – 4 pm
The Atrium, County Hall, Bythesea Rd, Trowbridge BA14 8JN

You might be aware that we have been working hard in Wiltshire in the field of dyslexia and literacy difficulties. The good practice in Wiltshire schools supporting dyslexia has been recognised widely, including organisations such as The Jamie Oliver Group.

To celebrate this, we are holding a free dyslexia awareness afternoon. School staff, parents/carers and young people are welcome to attend. There will be speakers, certificate presentations to schools that have recently achieved the BDA’s Dyslexia Friendly Schools Quality Mark, displays, and cake!

Find out more about the new Universal Screener, which is being piloted in Wiltshire alongside Aston University. This free screener will help identify strengths and needs in Year 1 and will provide information about how to support next steps.

The WDA Chair, Dr Helen Ross, and I will be available with our information stand to answer questions.

Places at the event are offered on a ‘first come first served’ basis and anyone interested in dyslexia is welcome to attend.

Places can be booked by emailing Alison Szalay at [email protected]

We look forward to welcoming many to the event.
