Utrecht transformed 316 ordinary bus stops into tiny green rooftops, giving bees and other insects more places to thrive. 🐝🌿

In the Netherlands, the city of Utrecht covered 316 bus shelter roofs with hardy sedum plants as part of a citywide sustainability project launched in 2019. These miniature green roofs help store rainwater, provide cooling during hot weather, capture particulate matter and support urban biodiversity, attracting bees, bumblebees, butterflies and other insects. Together, the shelters created more than 2,000 square meters of additional green-roof space, turning everyday public infrastructure into small pockets of nature throughout the city.

Save the Date: People’s National Emergency Briefing
Transition Tattenhall is hosting a screening of this important film on Friday 23rd October 2026 at 19:00 at the Barbour Institute.
The film brings together leading experts who explain the impacts of the pressing climate and nature crisis on our health, food security, national security and the economy. It’s the first time that these very real climate related impacts are presented in one place in an easy understandable way.
You can watch a trailer for the film by clicking on the image and there’s more information here National Emergency Briefing on climate & nature
In the absence of a national televised event so far over 3,400 community groups and workplaces have, or are planning, local screenings.
For some the film may be an uncomfortable watch however it gives essential information that we all need to be aware of and it ends with message of hope for the future.
You won’t find the film online. It’s intended to be watched as a group to prompt community discussion.
After the showing there will be a facilitated discussion to share your thoughts with others, discuss actions we can take to mitigate the effects of climate change and how we can adapt.
The event is free but ticketed due to capacity of the venue. Tickets are available via this link. https://www.tickettailor.com/events/transitiontattenhall1/2385653
Who will benefit most from attending? We all will and especially parents of younger children. Is there an age restriction?

The film is suitable for audiences over 16 years old.‍

Climate change and the energy transition are two of this century’s biggest stories – so why are they so hard to get your head around?

Introducing Climate Trunk: a visual guide to climate and energy. 100+ infographics delivered over two years, once a week.

It’s a visual guide to understanding climate and energy – designed to hold the big picture together, from science and history to impacts and justice, from solutions and false solutions to net zero and you 🧪⚖️🧩

Each ring of the trunk adds context and coherence, helping you build a clearer picture.

The metaphor works two ways. Like a tree trunk, it records the climate and energy story in its rings as it grows. And like a storage trunk, it’s about organising and keeping the knowledge you can carry with you and come back to 🌳.

The Trunk grew out of years of trying to cut through the noise – reading the science, the politics, the arguments, the spin, and realising how easily new information slips away without the right frame.

I realised the answer was obvious: start with an image and build everything else around it.

The Trunk won’t cover everything. It’s designed to help you understand, remember and share what really matters. It’s being built to help you stay grounded when the next wave of confusion rolls in. It’s also here to help you navigate the murky world of climate misinformation and those familiar deflection arguments that come up time and time again.

Keep up with what really matters, and let us filter out the rest.

Today is National Second-hand Wardrobe Day!👗👖

Every year, around 300,000 tonnes of used clothes end up in landfill or are incinerated in the UK. That's clothes with plenty of life left in them 👗

We can all do our bit to help end waste and live more sustainably in the choices we make about what we buy so, before you buy something new, take a look at the charity shops because your perfect outfit may be waiting for you👗
