Come and speak to us at our community engagement event in Campbeltown.

We’re working on plans for this community‑interest project around wool, crafts, skills, heritage and local jobs with the plan to eventually have a wool processing mill serving the people of Argyll.

It would be great to hear the thoughts and opinions of local people - whether you own sheep, use fleece for crafting, are interested in heritage craft or have an opinion on the plans.

Pop in to Campbeltown Library between 10-12 this Saturday (6 June) for a friendly chat and to find out more.

Help us to work out what we should offer as woolly workshops!

As well as our work towards bringing wool processing back to Argyll, we also would like to offer wool-related workshops to the community.

We would love to hear from you specifically about this. So far we have the following ideas:

· Fleece to Handmade — a series that follows the process from raw fleece to finished item (dip in/out by topic).

· No Fleece Left Behind — breeds and what we can do with each.

· Learn to spin – using local fleeces

· Learn to knit – using Scottish wool

· Wet felting whole fleece

· Natural dyeing

· Weaving (tapestry, peg loom, bookmarks)

· Needle felting

· Mending

What do you think of these?

Do you have other suggestions that would fit?

So many benefits to wool over synthetics. The cost of buying wool products however can be cost prohibitive. Our hope is that bringing back local industry will go some way to addressing this.

A massive thanks to the Argyllshire Advertiser and for their wonderful coverage in this week's paper and making our ambitions to start a wool processing mill to serve the people of Argyll front page news!!!
If you enjoyed the article and you'd like to find out more about our plans then why not come along to our first community engagement event on Saturday 25 April in Tarbert's Templar Arts and Leisure Centre (TALC) between 10am-12pm.
It would be great to hear your thoughts and opinions - whether you own sheep, use fleece for crafting, are interested in heritage craft or have an opinion on the plans. The more information we have the better informed we'll be to give people what they want.
If you can't make it to Tarbert on 25 April there will be another chance to speak to us as we're planning a second community engagement event in Campbeltown. Details to follow soon.

For the first time since the 18th century, a new woollen mill is coming to Mid Argyll. A new company has been established to process wool from local flocks, and the founders will be hosting an information day in Tarbert next week.
