💛🐦 PLEASE HELP MANWELL FIND HIS FOREVER HOME 🐦💛

Sadly, Manwell’s owner has passed away, and this lovely little zebra finch now needs a very special forever home.

🏡 Manwell’s new home must have:

🐦 Other zebra finches for companionship
🚫 Strictly NO breeding
🏡 A minimum aviary size of 6ft x 3ft
🌡️ A heated, safe and secure aviary
❤️ A committed and knowledgeable forever home

An adoption fee applies.

We will be careful about where Manwell goes, as finding the right home for him is our priority.

These beautiful Java sparrows came to the sanctuary after their owners died 💔 they are looking for the perfect forever home. Please see post for rehoming policy and for the full policy please message or email [email protected]

The welfare of our Java sparrows (Padda oryzivora) is our priority. Birds will only be rehomed where the prospective adopter can provide an appropriate, safe and permanent environment that allows them to express their natural social, flying, foraging and bathing behaviours.
By adopting Java sparrows from the rescue, the adopter agrees to comply with the requirements of this policy.
Minimum Enclosure Requirement
Java sparrows must be housed in a suitable heated flight cage or aviary measuring no less than 6 ft (1.83 m) long × 3 ft (0.91 m) wide.
The enclosure must provide sufficient usable space for sustained horizontal flight. Larger accommodation is strongly encouraged wherever possible.
The enclosure should:
- Provide a clear, unobstructed area for horizontal flight.
- Contain natural branch perches of different diameters and textures.
- Provide sufficient perching positions without overcrowding the available flight space.
- Be secure, escape-proof and constructed from bird-safe materials.
- Provide appropriate shelter and access to good natural or suitable artificial light.
- Protect birds from draughts, excessive heat, severe cold and sudden temperature changes.
- Provide a clean, shallow bathing facility on a regular basis.
Java sparrows are highly social birds and will not normally be rehomed to live alone. They should be kept as a compatible pair or as part of an appropriate social group.
Where several birds are kept together, the enclosure must be sufficiently large to prevent overcrowding and allow individuals to move away from one another when necessary.
Breeding of any Java sparrows rehomed by the rescue is strictly prohibited.
Birds are rehomed solely as companion or aviary birds and must not be intentionally bred under any circumstances.

Windfall apples and pears, excess allotment vegetables and apple tree branches are all gratefully received at Oaksedge Sanctuary, Foxholes lane, Tansley. We also distribute food and supplies to other local animal sanctuaries.
Don't forget to leave some windfall apples on the ground for the blackbirds and to give nutrients back to the tree and soil.
