These little cuties 😍 are the first nest of swallows to fledge this year. They have been flying a swooping the sky's above the sanctuary all day, now they have gone back to their nest for a well earned rest. Sadly there are only two active nests this year in the barns, birds are finding it harder every year due to lack of flying insects and weather changes due to climate changes making their migration in the winter more difficult.
Hopefully they will have a second clutch of chick's per nest.
There are normally three nests πŸͺΉ so one pair didn't make it back to the farm this year, let's give these little ones the best chance by planting 🌱🌼for insects amd leaving as much wild and scrub 🌿 land as possible to increase their food source so they can be strong for their migration.

This is little Mango, the first photo is when she arrived in the winter
She had a habit of plucking her own feathers out due to her owner who reared her dying. After he died she lived in a pet shop but never stopped plucking out her feathers. When the pet shop closed they wanted the best for her so rather than sending her to another caged home they sent her to live in our large aivery, where birds cam fly and play all day with lots of friends, which is best for their physical and mental health.
As you can see in the second photo once she joined the Oaksedge Sanctuary aivery she finally stopped the feathers plucking habit and is slowly growing all her feathers back its a joy to see her happy with her new friends 🦜

The swallows are very busy feeding their chick's, it's very important not to disturb them. We have put signs up to warn people. This photo was taken from outside the stable zooming in.
I'm not sure they made the nest big enough 🐦

The rabbits love fresh willow branches ss a treat., it's a brilliant tree to have as it just keeps growing so fresh branches always available. 🐰🐰
Willow leaves and branches are fantastic natural supplements and enrichment for animals. They provide excellent mental stimulation, support digestive health, and contain salicinβ€”a natural precursor to aspirin that acts as a mild anti-inflammatory and pain reliever🌿🌿
