This week is Deafness Awareness Week.

Books are for everyone, whether they are Hardback, Paperback, E Books, Large Print, Somewhere between, Read Along, Audio book or Braille. They inspire us and take us on our adventures where we can do anything!

If you can't see the format of book you are looking for (except E Books) in any of our shops please just ask as you never know what we might have and also pop along and support your local library and ask them as they might be able to get in what you are looking for.

Today is our 12th anniversary of becoming a charity!!!

The Global Educational Trust/GET Free Books started from humble beginnings with just Free Bookstalls. Then after a friend of our founder could not get a tenant we said we could help by becoming a temporary tenant and our first Free Bookshop was born.

Over the years we have had many bookshops until a more permanent tenant is found, we often bounce around the same town as long as we can but sadly sometimes we have to go into storage while we are waiting to comeback, like Bishop Auckland, Ipswich and Redcar but we do intend to come back, even locations where we haven't had an open shop for years. We have not forgotten you.

Our shops have become valued in any community they are in, and it is all due to the dedication of all of our wonderful volunteers helping our shops become inviting to all. We could not do this without them. This next year for the first time we are also for the first time heading to our founder's own community after 12 years of helping others around the UK.

These past few years we have rehomed over a million books every year. We never thought it was possible to have such an impact with just a few shops and we have all of you to thank for that. You have helped all these books from going to landfill, reduced local carbon footprint and recycling them the proper way while enriching people's lives.

Everyone We have sad news.

Sadly our shop has found a more permanent tenant and we have been given our 28 days notice and we are now closed. We are really grateful for the time we have had on George Street and we wish them all the best for the future and hopefully we will find a new home locally soon.

Our volunteers are currently packing the shop up and are getting it ready for moving into storage.

If you know of any local empty shops that you think could fit one of our shops please email our head office with the listing [email protected] and put Tamworth Property as the header. If you are a landlord and wish to learn the benefits of having a charity like ours as your tenant and how we can help you cut costs please email with the header Tamworth Landlord.

If you are someone who maybe able to help get us a new property please email or send us a private message with your contact details and we will pass your details onto the relevant team.

With your help we have a better chance of returning our GET Free Bookshop back to Tamworth.

We are looking to the future and wish to improve our customer service/interaction with many of our shops that need a little help.
So if you are one of our volunteers please can you send this page a private message to either the page to your own shop or to our central shops page. We keep an eye on them all for any new messages. This is just so that we can help keep people informed if you are unable to open because of lack of volunteers, a weather related closure or if there is anything else you wish to pass on and liaise about the opening times. Also if we get a message and we need to contact you, it would help speed everything up.

Most of our shops need more volunteers and we are still looking for volunteers for our new shops in Chelmsley Wood and Welwyn Garden City.
