Managing stressful situations as mental health nurses can be really difficult. When going in to hostile conversations I try to remember that the person I am seeing, isnt always the person I am speaking to. This small action allows you to recognise emotions for what they are and not allow their emotions to impact your view of them. By shifting the energy, you can easier access that compassionate space whilst protecting yourself from being overwhelmed. I don’t always get it right because I am human, but I try every day to learn and grow. Just my little Saturday thought 🌱🙂 - Matt

It was an absolute pleasure for Reclaiming Wellbeing CIC to work with this group today. They did fantastic work and were a great representation for their school 😊. Days like today are the times where I really love my job ☺️

Students learning all about the importance of being kind, they are putting together care packages for a local homeless charityThe Coleshill School, an 11-19 Business and Enterprise Academy

Mandalas teach us the beauty of impermanence—each intricate pattern a moment of presence, each object a lesson in letting go. Like emotions and seasons, they come and go, reminding us that true mindfulness lies in creation, not permanence. As they fade, what remains is the joy of the process, the connection we shared, and the peace of simply being.

Some photos of some Mandals in nature from our workshop with Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls today 🥰

Teaching young people about emotions doesn’t have to be in a classroom. It can be in their own environment, with a trusted face, relatable content and a feeling of safety.

My little friend particularly loved Joy. But did an excellent anger face 🤣

Normalising emotions early and giving them something to come back to, time and time again is important. This movie in particular is the best example of the purpose of emotions. Good and bad. I use it often because it is explained so well.

Special thanks to his wonderful mum and my dear friend Emma, who was happy for his photos to be used 🥰

Last week we completed a project around community and kindness as part of our Reclaiming Wellbeing through Nature group.

The young people made 'care packages' for Anawim, Birmingham's Women's centre. Alice came down to talk to the group and explained to the young people about all of the amazing work they do supporting women day to day!

Below are the bags filled bags with practical items, small treats and words of hope.

We all know that acts of kindness can give you a real boost, as well as the knowledge that you may have positively affected someone else's day and made the world a little brighter! Connection with others is so important

It’s official. The National Lottery are funding our Reclaiming Wellbeing CIC through Nature Group this year 🎉

All we need now is to get some groups together 🥰. Thank you to everyone who has helped along the way. We can finally put something out to the community free of charge and support those who couldn’t otherwise access support ❤️
