Mile Oak Women's Institute, Tamworth, Staffs. Come and join us for Fun, Friendship & Learning New Skills!A warm and friendly welcome awaits all who visit us!

We meet in St Barnabas Hall, Mile Oak, Tamworth - 3rd Thursday of every month at 7.45pm. We offer an opportunity to learn new skills and get involved with new crafts. Each month we welcome a visiting speaker on a variety of topics. Past speakers have included Eddie Glew, Blithfield Willow craft who was featured on Channel 4 with Kirsty Allsopp, Glynis Gayton on Zambia and Sue Clegg talking about finger print detection.

Bring your friends and family for an afternoon out this Saturday (18th October) to Dosthill Boys Club for the WI Tamworth Show. It’s 2pm till 4pm and £1 entry.
WI crafts will be on show plus refreshments, sales tables, a lucky dip, cakes for sale and raffle!
Come along and start your Christmas shopping at the sales tables, have a cuppa and a cake and see what beautiful items the local WI’s have been busy crafting!

💚 AN INTERESTING AND EYE-CATCHING WAY OF CELEBRATING THE 110th ANNIVERSARY OF THE Wi

Brewood Afternoon WI decided, as a celebration of the 110-year anniversary of the WI’s creation in 1915 to create a Word Cloud using 110 words gathered from members which they used to describe what the WI meant to them.

“ We intend to use this in our advertising and to produce a roller banner to display the Word Cloud. A total of 45 different words were used, by members, to describe what the WI meant to them. These were collated and transcribed. The Word Cloud was sorted by the frequency of words used. When sorting by frequency, the more times a word is present in the text the
larger its size will be in the word cloud.

The most frequently used word was Friendship which was used 25 times. 23 words were used once only. 21 words were used between 2-7 times!”

Congratulations to Brewood WI on this very imaginative way of celebrating 110 years of the WI. 👏 💚💛💜
