Day 3 and 4 of Advanced Seamanship and Advanced Instructors course.

Some excellent test pieces produced by this weekends Seamanshippers and congratulations to the 2 new Advaced Instructors joining my team. PO Will Stirland and PO Close Bennett.

And the 5 new advanced cadets (2 from south west, 2 from Southern and 1 from North West)

Day 1 of Advanced Seamanship. Some excellent work in test pieces consisting of:

Common whipping
West Country Whipping
sailmakers Whipping
Needle and Palm Whipping
Short splice in NFC made into common strop (tapered)
Hard Eye splice in MMFC which is dogged at the ends
Back splice in MMFC
Grommet strop which we then had a cadets vs adults competition of Quoits (ring throw) which the cadets won.

Another intermediate course completed.

Well done to the 5 cadets and the 6 new Instructors I have in SW Area.

Now onto Advanced….

Intermediate Seamanship Weeknd 2

Rigging, sailmaking, B&H practice. Some hard work has gone into their test pieces.

All ready for marking, with practical exam and also test paper left to do. Results tomorrow.

Seamanship Cadet Instructor weekend still has spaces.

Weymouth 10th-12th April.

If you want to come join the team of instructors to help, then get booked on. You need to be 15, have basic Peer Ed and the Advanced.

If you are already a Cadet Instructor, come refresh your skills with others alike.

Day 2

Some excellent test pieces have been done for assessment, through hard work and determination.

Julia has taken home a new pet, Rob the Rope. She made the monkeys fist/heaving line knot combo and it’s been sat on her shoulder like a parrot all weekend 😂
