Tain & District Development Trust

Tain & District Development Trust Our mission is to help make the Easter Ross Peninsula a better place to live, work and play.

13/11/2024

The Tain and District Development Trust (TDDT) will close its doors after the Tain Christmas Market on Saturday, 30th November.

Following careful consideration, the Board has determined that, given the current financial climate, continuing operations is no longer viable. Closing at this time will allow the Trust to meet its existing financial commitments while resources remain.

Over the years, TDDT has played a pivotal role in the community, leading and supporting various projects and events. These have included the regeneration of the Picture House, the branding of the Easter Ross Peninsula, the development of the Easter Ross path network, and regular health walks. These walks will continue every Wednesday going forward. The Trust has also organised monthly summer markets, community festivals, pop-up shops, and provided meeting spaces for local groups.

The Board would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers, community members, and businesses whose contributions and support have helped bring these initiatives to life.

TDDT has been immensely proud to serve Tain and the surrounding areas and remains deeply grateful for the support shown by the community.

Our Story So Far...

Tain & District Development Trust was established in 2017 to benefit the local communities in our ward (Tain, Balintore, Edderton, Hill of Fearn, Hilton, Inver, Portmahomack, Nigg and Shandwick) through community and business engagement.

A consultation was organised in 2017 to outline the forming a community-led organisation for Tain and Surrounding areas- with the aim of boosting social, environmental and economic development.

The consultation was an opportunity to outline the proposed idea of forming a community-led organisation for Tain and Surrounding areas, with the aim of boosting social, environmental and economic development. From this initial consultation we were overwhelmed by the positive response that we received on the evening.

Our passion for developing the community is the heart of what drives our organisation forwards. We aimed to put our district on the map as a place to work, rest and play. 2018 witnessed the introduction of the Community Markets and the Community Awards. Both of these initiatives were hugely successful.
