As the weather calms a reminder of where we are…

The Flood Scheme: North Yorkshire Council planners have set a target date of 14 October for the decision. If any work is to start this year, the application must be approved. We hope to have an update early next week please follow Kirsty Poskitt - North Yorkshire Councillor Tadcaster Division

The Flood Scheme is designed to protect against flooding and in turn re vitalise our Town making businesses and residents wanting to invest.

After two consultations and 10 months of review, it is inconceivable that any objections would be submitted at this late stage. Doing so would risk derailing the project, which is of vital importance to Tadcaster, its residents, and its businesses.

On Tuesday this week at 6pm there is a extra council meeting with the EA to discuss the 106 agreement (basically the town councils commitment to take care of the fas and biodiversity elements once the EA has left) For anyone who can’t make it to the EA Tuesday day drop ins its definitely worth coming to this meeting, the EA team will be there so there will be chance to ask questions.

Storm Amy - River update
The majority of the wet weather has passed 🙂 upstream.

Levels will rise upstream in the next few hours. Nothing that indicates a Flood Alert for the Upper and/or the lower River Wharfe, the Upper has been removed.

If anyone wants any help with planning for the Winter ahead please be reassured we are always here to help Kirsty and myself.

Update Bridge:

Afternoon all!

Glorious sunny day today.

I have spoken to the highways team at NYC, they are keeping a very close eye on the Bridge. Whilst we do expect the level to rise we expect to drop again fairly swiftly.

There are no current plans for a road closure. I will let everyone know if this changes.

Lower River Wharfe Flood Alert:
Please prepare for potential access issues and cellar flooding if you have properties with low land.

Last night, levels in Kettlewell came out lower than predicted, which affected the models around midnight. Netherside Hall (Burnsall Bridge) went into Flood Warning status, but fortunately, the levels did not reach the predicted height; there was a difference of 0.6 to 0.8 meters.

**Today:**
Pool Bridge is nearing its peak at 3.48 meters, and the water is now between Arthington and Collingham, with Tadcaster rising.

The predicted model levels indicate that Tadcaster is expected to remain below 3 meters around 3-5 PM today. This means we are well below the Flood Warning level.

The forecast for today is dry! Two Flood Alerts in one week…in September 🙈☀️
