This week, meet Ren!

Fun fact: Ren has watched Mamma Mia over 15 times and can quote most of the script for the first 25 minutes of the film 💎

Ren began her journey in youth work just over a year ago, volunteering at her local youth club—where she quickly discovered a real passion for supporting young people. ✨ That spark led her to study Working with Children, Young People & Families at the University of Gloucestershire. During her placement with SMASH, Ren impressed the team and was thrilled to be offered a permanent role. 💪 She’s now proud to be part of an organisation that puts young people first and is excited to keep making a difference with heart and energy.💖

This week's 'Meet the SMASH Team' is... Tim!!

Fun fact: Tim spent 3 days travelling for a football match in Azerbaijan, got stuck in a Iranian Airport for 9 hours and then watched his team lose 4-1 (a story to tell the grandkids one day)😂

Favourite song: Night and day - Billie Piper (Tim is a number one Billie fan)

Tim comes from a chef background but left the kitchen to focus on youth work, which he’s done in a variety of settings. 👨‍🍳 From youth clubs and outreach to café nights and cross-cultural projects, he enjoys supporting young people through different stages of their journey. 🥳

Warning: Tim's reverse kryptonite is Vimto and Haribo! Always stay clear from Tim if he's on a sugar high 🍬🍬

Today on 'Meet the team' we have... Kevin! 👾

Fun fact: Kevin won a national art competition to draw a map for a video game! (He can also do the splits😱)

Kevin is a retired Police Sergeant with experience in custody, local policing, and child protection. Having seen the challenges young people face, he believes early support can make a big difference. 🌟 He’s proud to be part of a team that helps build confidence and brighter futures.
Kevin brings a great sense of humour to the team and also loves a good videogame. If you ever see Kevin around the Base, challenge him to a game of FIFA.⚽️

A huge congratulations to the Solid Ground team for being nominated finalists for Best Partnership with Youth Justice Service at the Children and Young People Now Awards 2025.

Young People from our Wroughton youth club were invited to have some fun decorating each other, and particularly one of our Youth Workers; Kevin, in some powder paint!

(Rest assured, the paints are biodegradable and wash out!)

Join us at Maunsell Way, Wroughton, SN4 9JF on the field by the BMX Pump track every Tuesday from 6pm - 8pm! Ages 10 - 16 welcome.
