We are so happy to hear that Building Bridges has received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to continue their programme in Swindon for another three years, helping people facing challenges to access employment, education and training - huge congratulations!!

We are delighted to announce that the Building Bridges Programme has been awarded grant funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, enabling us to continue supporting people across Swindon and Wiltshire until 2029.

For almost 10 years, Building Bridges has delivered a trusted employability and education programme designed to help local residents who face barriers to develop their skills, build confidence, engage with their communities, gain qualifications and move closer or into employment.

We would like to thank The National Lottery Community Fund which has been part of the Building Bridges story since the launch of the programme in 2016. We would also like to thank our fantastic team for the ongoing support they offer to participants and we are looking forward to the next phase of the programme.

We were thrilled to receive this generous donation from Rotary Club of Swindon North & Thamesdown last week in memory of Reverend Canon Alastair Stevenson, who was a passionate supporter of our work.

It was a wonderful evening, meeting with other local charities carrying out important work to improve lives in our community.

THANK YOU to all the Rotary members and participants of the Santa Sleigh collection, for helping us provide safe homes and support for people facing homelessness in Swindon.

Big thanks to Swindon Ghana Seventh-Day Adventist Church Youth Group for donating food for people facing homelessness in Swindon.

For this year's Global Youth Week the Church's young people
carried out a litter pick as well as making the food donation.

Group leader, Henrietta Akesse-Mensah, said ‘16 years ago, while studying for an MSc in Social Work at the University of Bristol, I had 60-day placement at Culvery Court and that was a rewarding life-changing experience which has stayed with me so I thought, why not approach Threshold to be the recipient of the donation from our young people?’

We are very lucky that Swindon businesses help us out in all sorts of ways!

The Space Program Self Storage Swindon has generously provided us discounted storage and a free space for our van.

Having secure, accessible parking means we can distribute essential items to residents, replace furniture and remove any old items quickly and responsibly to ensure people have a everything they need and a comfortable home environment.

Money that would have been drained by expensive parking costs will instead be used to support people facing homelessness to progress towards a healthier, happier future.

Massive thanks to The Space Program and we look forward to working with you!

20% of homelessness in Swindon is caused by people losing a private tenancy.

Rental prices in the town continue to rise, with the average private rent increasing by 4.6% this year as demand for housing continues to grow.

From 1st May, the Renters’ Rights Act will mean that your rent can only go up a maximum of once a year - if you agree to it. You cannot be evicted for challenging a rent increase, but if you pay the new amount it legally becomes your rent, even if you're not happy about it.

Thank you very much to Grace and Eleanor from Village Hotel Club Swindon for serving delicious baked potatoes to our participants, volunteers and guests before they braved the cold at last week’s Sleep Out.

Grace said, ‘As well as serving hot food to the guests who are sleeping out, it’s really raised awareness of homelessness - even for me as a volunteer’.

Charlie Metcalfe, Director of Sales at Village Hotel Club Swindon, said ‘I have been involved with Threshold for almost 15 years in one way, shape or form from supporting the soup kitchen to being a trustee - I am so delighted to still be able to support.’
