Today we hear the sad news that Flight Lieutenant John Cruickshank passed away aged 105. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery during an attack on a German U-Boat that left him injured. He was the Captain of a Catalina flying boat at the time and oversaw submarine hunting missions from an RAF boat base in the Shetland Islands.
John is the last surviving Second World War recipient of the Victoria Cross. If you have a few minutes, please take a look at the Sky News report on him and read some of his fascinating history.

The RAFA wings Appeal Team will be at the RONA Steam and Vintage Rally this Sunday. Why not join us there, lots to see and do. It's gonna be a hot one so make sure you have your suncream.

Due to the very high and dry temps we have seen over the last few weeks, the organisers have asked traders to bring their own fire extinguishers as a precaution. Huge shout out to Abbey Fire, who have kindly provided us with a Fire extinguisher for this and future events.

The weather may have turned a bit for the weekend but that's not going to stop the Wings Appeal Team being out today. We will be at Wroughton Carnival helping them celebrate 100 years and it looks to be an fantastic day so brave the rain and come say hi 😀

This coming Saturday 28th June 2025 people across the country will be celebrating Armed Forces Day. A day to celebrate our Armed Force and Swindon is no different. This year Swindon Borough Council will be hosting what looks to be an fantastic day at Lydiard Park. Starting at 11am and running through the day there will be loads to see and do including army vehicles, funfair, military parades, dance and school performance and lots more. The Wings Appeal Team will be there too with lots of new and exciting stock including DUCKS so we look forward to seeing you all there for a fun day.

However, please be cautious, the weather is set to HOT so please ensure you have plenty of sun cream and keep hydrated through the day

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Lavin. Ray was a much loved RAF veteran who will be sorely missed. Ray's funeral will be held at 2pm on Wednesday 18th December at North Wiltshire Crematorium
