ZABRA - AfreeBra 2026 Pre-loved Bra Collection
Through great contacts and work by Jan Kilby we have received donations of pre-loved bras from our Friends and Family, the Prospect Hospice, Wroughton Parish Council, Tick Tock Playgroup, Wroughton Junior School, Cloud Nine Salon, Salon 8, Soup and Sandwich Club, W.I. Wiltshire, Slimming World at Ellendune Community Centre, U3A Coffee Group, and local residents.
Jan’s friend Jane did an amazing job in coordinating the collections in Wroughton and delivering them all to Jan.

The total collection was 3394 preloved bras and 43 new pairs of panties. These were collected by Alison from Swindon Soroptimists and added to their collection of 806 bras. A huge thanks to Rotarians Richard Smolicz and Nigel Causton who did loaded the van with the bin bags of bras.

So in all a total of 4200 pre-loved bras were delivered to ZABRA - AfreeBra initiative founder Jeanette Kruger in Twickenham.

The 2026 collection for ZABRA - AfreeBra smashed the 2025 total. Thank you to everyone you helped make this happen especially Jan who is an absolute superstar!!

Through brilliant contacts at Rotary Club of Swindon we have started this years collection of pre-loved bras for ZABRA - AfreeBra initiative by being able to donate 762 new bras that were delivered to the warehouse in Twickenham last week. Once these bras have been taken out of their boxes and tags removed they can be bagged ready to send to Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa.
Great collaboration between Rotary Clubs to make things happen!! Thank you to all concerned.

We also have collected around 2000 pre-loved bras that are soon to be collected and delivered. An update and pictures to follow.

It’s Barge Week!
Every year Swindon Phoenix hire a fully accessible barge from Bruce Boats in Great Bedwyn. The barge we always hire is Rebecca and she is fully equipped for people who are less mobile including wheelchair users. The barge has lifts fore and aft, a full size domestic kitchen and fully accessible bathroom.
For six days we take people from a range of different charities and group for a day out on the river going from Great Bedwyn to Hungerford and vice visa.
Yesterday was the turn of the Swindon Parkinson’s Activity Group who had a fun day. One lady told me ‘Going on a barge was on my bucket list. I can’t believe I’m on it and I’ve even got to steer and help work the locks! What a brilliant day.’
Really pleased Swindon Phoenix can help make great memories!!

As President of Phoenix for the 2024/25 I chose ZABRA - AfreeBra Initiative as one of my charities after I randomly saw a post from them on Facebook. I found out more about their great work and decided that in my Presidential year I would like to support them by collecting pre-loved bras. ZABRA - AfreeBra collect preloved bras to send to different parts of Africa to give to women who have been trafficked, abused or for young women to help stop them being abused. In Africa women not wearing bras are seen as an easy target for r**e and abuse. poverty means they don’t have the money to buy a bra. By collecting bras and sending them to the UK distribution centre they can be sent to a variety of projects across Africa. Hopefully this collection will help make a difference to the lives of 1000’s of women.
Last Wednesday we handed over a total of 2358 pre-loved bras to Swindon Soroptimists who are also collecting. Working together be can make a difference to peoples lives!
