🚴‍♀️ Cycling in Swindon 🚴‍♂️
Great to have our first sitdown as the new administration with the Swindon Cycle Campaign this evening at the Civic Offices.

Cycling is a major component of active travel around the Town, as well as a boost for recreation, health and tonnes of other important benefits!

Together we are keen to advance interests of cycling in the Town; a revival of bikability (aka cycling proficiency in schools), cycle wardens, and making it easier for residents to report issues/defects on cycle ways.

We also discussed the forthcoming Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP), which is in its draft phase ahead of publishing in the Autumn. We also talked about the need to better consult with the cycling campaigners in Swindon ahead of important planning applications, especially those with the potential to link up Swindon through active travel routes.

We're very keen to keep the conservation moving with momentum, and we'll be scheduling a meeting in the coming weeks, where we can review important changes for Swindon that the LCWIP presents.

A really positive meeting.. Suresh Gattapur, Nandini Singh - Shaw Swindon and I will be taking the Chief Executive of the Council around the Shaw and Westlea Ward in August by bike, to highlight some of the areas residents have raised with us over the last couple of months.

I'm aware that a dubious claim is being made: that a vote for Labour is the only solution to prevent Reform winning Shaw and Westlea. There are many polls, so in the interest of balance I thought I should share this view from Britain.Votes.Now (below) and encourage Labour, LibDem and Green voters to lend the Conservatives their support locally. It is the surest way to suceed against what is a local election being fought on national policies (I'm sure you have all seen Reform's latest announcement on how they will treat areas who do not vote for them in the next General Election).

Suresh, Nandinin and I all live in the Ward, a fact you can check when you see your ballot paper. I would like to thank the many people we have spoken to on the doorstep over the past year for sharing their views and asking us questions, and hope to be able to represent you all for the next four years.
