Swindon City of Sanctuary

Swindon City of Sanctuary Swindon City of Sanctuary promotes a culture of welcome, inclusion and support for all. Welcome to Swindon City of Sanctuary's FB page!

We aim to promote a culture of welcome, inclusion and support for everyone in Swindon, with a focus on those seeking sanctuary. In practical terms, we work to do this by bringing people and
organisations in our community together, providing practical support through projects, running community events, raising awareness and campaigning for social justice, therefore, contributing to the wider, natio

nal movement that is City of Sanctuary. The wider movement is led by the national charity City of Sanctuary. There are over 130 cities, towns and villages of sanctuary in the UK! You can find out more about the national charity here: https://cityofsanctuary.org/

How can you support our work? We need you Swindon, to pledge your support to agree to actively do something to help everyone feel welcome here and to include those who are seeking sanctuary in our everyday activities. You can do this by clicking the 'sign up' button at the top of our FB page. This will take you to our website and pledge forms. Just pick from Individual or Businesses & Community Groups and then fill in your details and send back to us. We believe there is a great sense of inclusion and community in Swindon, despite its size (yes we might be a town but we are the size of a city, hence City rather than Town of Sanctuary and in keeping with the national charities name). We want to build on this and help show a positive side to Swindon than is usually portrayed in the media. We hope as support grows it will encourage others to see past labels, to understand and empathise with those who have had to flee their homes because their lives were in danger and pledge support to actively help them feel included in our community.
