Wasnโ€™t expecting much from myself today. My training has taken such a backseat recently I was expecting a slow run.

So super happy that I managed to get a Swansea Personal Best of 1:48:07

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒ Happy Global Running Day! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Running has given me so much over the years โ€” not just fitness, but headspace, resilience, routine and some incredible experiences along the way.

Some runs feel amazing. Some feel like a complete battle. But every mile teaches you something.

Whether youโ€™re:
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Training for a marathon
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Running your first 5k
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Doing parkrun on a Saturday morning
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Jogging between lamp posts
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Or just thinking about getting started...

Youโ€™re still a runner.

One of the best things about the running community is that it doesnโ€™t care how fast you are. Itโ€™s about showing up, supporting each other and putting one foot in front of the other.

For me personally, running has also become an important tool for managing stress, focus and mental wellbeing โ€” especially during the more chaotic periods of life.

So today is a good reminder to celebrate movement, fresh air, community and progressโ€ฆ no matter how small the step feels.

If youโ€™ve been thinking about starting, this is your sign. Start small. Walk if you need to. The hardest part is usually getting out the door.

Happy Global Running Day! ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ’™

Quite embarrassing to have to say this, but a note to some of the new councillors:

Volunteer groups are not a branding opportunity.

Please stop turning up just for photos and Facebook posts, and instead actually build relationships with the groups youโ€™re supposed to be supporting โ€” not riding the coattails of.

The people organising litter picks, community events, food projects, youth groups and support networks are giving up their own free time because they care deeply about their communities. Their hard work should never become a backdrop for political self-promotion.

Support means:
โœ… Showing up consistently
โœ… Listening
โœ… Helping behind the scenes
โœ… Amplifying volunteers, not yourself
โœ… Being there even when thereโ€™s no camera

Communities can tell the difference between genuine support and performative politics.

Be better than this.

๐ŸŒˆ Happy Pride Month ๐ŸŒˆ

Pride is about visibility, equality, dignity and the freedom for people to be unapologetically themselves.

As an ally, I want my LGBTQ+ friends, family, neighbours and community members to know this:

You are valued.
You are respected.
You belong.

Being an ally isnโ€™t just about changing a profile picture for a month โ€” itโ€™s about listening, standing up against discrimination, supporting inclusion, and helping create communities where everyone feels safe and welcome.

Love is love. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

Happy Pride to everyone celebrating โ€” and thank you to those who continue to push for a kinder, more inclusive world for all. โค๏ธ

Really enjoyed volunteering at Moredon Sporting Hub junior parkrun ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

One of the best things about seeing these events week after week is watching the numbers continue to grow. More children taking part, more families coming along and more people getting involved in a positive, welcoming community activity.

What makes it all work though is the amazing volunteers who give up their time every Sunday morning to make sure the event can happen safely and smoothly. From marshals and barcode scanners to timekeepers and tail walkers, every role matters and the atmosphere they create is brilliant.

Events like junior parkrun are so important! not just for fitness, but for confidence, routine, community spirit and giving young people something positive to be part of.

Huge thank you to everyone involved today

Had a few residents reach out recently about issues across Penhill And Pinehurst, so Iโ€™ve spent some time logging a number of reports with Swindon Borough Council to help get things moving.

The following issues have now been raised:

๐Ÿšง Blocked gullies along Beech Avenue
Case numbers:
E38271, E38272, E38273, E38274, E38275, E38276, E38277, E38278, E38279, E38280, E38281, E38282, E38283 & E38284

๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ Potholes in and around the Penhill estate
Case numbers:
E38286, E38287, E38288 & E38289

๐Ÿšถ Path repair request
Case number:
E38290

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Fly tipping across Penhill
Case numbers:
CFT022930, CFT022931, CFT022932, CFT022933, CFT022934, CFT022935 & CFT022936

Thank you to everyone who continues to report issues and raise concerns locally. While these things can sometimes take time to resolve, reporting them is important because it helps build a clear picture of where investment and maintenance are needed most.

Please continue sending issues through when you spot them โ€” whether itโ€™s fly tipping, potholes, drainage problems or damaged paths. Keeping on top of these things helps improve the area for everyone. ๐Ÿ‘
