Beechcroft Library The Friends of Beechcroft Library work alongside the Parish Council to develop the library into a vibrant community hub.

'SWINDON HISTORY FESTIVAL' DURING WHOLE OF SEPTEMBER.
Stratton will have a display at Beechcroft Library, and there will be one for first two weeks at Grange Leisure Centre and 2nd two weeks at Coleview Community Centre.
On 12th there will be a 'History of St Margaret's church' talk at 10:00 followed by a 'Walk and Talk' around Lower Stratton from11:00, as part of St. Margaret's church Beer Festival.
On 26th a 'Walk & Talk' around Upper Stratton from St. Phillip's followed by a Cream Tea, both cost £10, monies to churches and local charity.
There will also be events all over Swindon and surrounding villages.

One final reminder to send in your entries for our Summer Writing Competition! 🙂

Entries should be returned to Beechcroft Library by this Sunday 30 August 📆

Prizes available and certificates will be issued to all pupils taking part! 🥇🏆

Please include the child's name, age, class/school and contact number on each entry.

Local children's author, Steve Antony, will be judging the competition at Beechcroft Library on Saturday 27 September! Steve Antony is the award-winning children's author and illustrator of The Queen’s Hat and the bestselling Mr Panda series, which has sold over 1.4 million copies. Steve is also Patron of Swindon Libraries Children’s Reading Services and he champions literacy nationwide, supporting the National Literacy Trust, School Library Association, and other organisations 👒 🐼

Did you know Beechcroft Library has a chess club every Saturday between 10.30am and 1.30pm? ♟️♟️

Our friendly, informal club welcomes complete beginners, occasional players and chess champions of all ages and experience.

Our Knit, Sew & Natter Group meet every Friday from 11am to 12.30pm, this free group is for all who enjoy knitting or cross stitching and having a chat 😀

Did you know Beechcroft Library have a Toddler Story Time every Thursday from 10.30am, as well as a Saturday Story Time on the first and third Saturday of the month from 11am? 📖🗣️

The next Saturday Storytime is on 5 September 🙂

These sessions are all suitable for age 7 and under. They are free events and there is no need to book.

Just a reminder that Beechcroft Library offers advice sessions for Stratton Advice Point every Thursday from 10.30am to 12.30pm 🗣️

Stratton Advice Point can provide residents and the community advice on the many welfare benefits and support available. It is staffed by dedicated volunteers from the local community who are trained on how to deliver this vital advice 🗣️

With the school holidays now well and truly here, don't forget to come along and sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge! 📖

This is aimed at primary school children between 4 - 11 and helps avoid a decline in reading over the summer holidays 🙂

The theme this year is “Read to the Beat”, which celebrates the connection between stories and sound, discovering how reading and music both ignite imagination and creativity! 📚🎧 🎼

For the first time, this year, every child taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge will receive their very own FREE copy of Storytime Magazine! 🗣️📕

Come to the library and sign up today! 🙂 The challenge ends on Saturday 13 September, so there is still time! ⏰

In the meantime, make sure your child/young person is ready to take part. The Summer Reading Challenge is a free event available to library members. Did You know Stratton St Margaret Parish Council has its very own Community Pantry? This is situated at the Community Hub in Beechcroft Library and is to help the food deprivation within the parish, whereby anyone who lives in our parish can visit the pantry on its designated opening times and choose items to take home.

(Tuesday 10am - 12pm)
(Friday 1pm - 3pm)

We are partnering with other local organisations to ensure the stock of the pantry is maintained, which will begin with non-perishable items.

We have a box in the library for any donations, which are always very welcome 🙂
