There is urgent prayer needed for the outbreak of the Ebola virus in DRC, which is spreading rapidly. The hospital area currently treating Ebola patients, while managing staff exposure, isolation measures and increased infection-control demands. Please pray for the immense pressure this is putting on the hospital and for God’s provision in handling such a challenging situation.

The purchase of more land adjacent to the centre has been further delayed due to bureaucratic reasons and issues with the landlord, please pray for a resolution in this.

Pray too for the team as they are likely to lose 3 members of the team shortly due to positive reasons, but it will leave the team feeling very stretched so please pray for the provision of more volunteers.

The team recently were speaking to a family at their home during a siren raid, which allowed them the opportunity to talk about God’s care – that He knows their fears, He cares deeply for them and they can bring their worries to Him.

Please be praying for the medical post run by the team to distribute medicines to the local community.

Until someone is felt called by the Lord to lead this ministry and feel committed to learning Portuguese to work in this setting, the team can only continue to supply medicines that can fortunately still be purchased in Saurimo.

The need is great so please pray for God’s provision of someone to lead this growing ministry.

Praise God that the project is now looking to expand its premises by another floor to provide three additional rooms at the centre.

They currently rent out five of their rooms to provide a steady income for the project, and this addition of three extra rooms on a second floor would lead to a greater independence of the project and helping it to become more sustainable in the support it offers.

Please pray for God’s hand over this work and that the plans will go smoothly with His guidance.

The team have had opportunities to run a number of training sessions recently for Albanian doctors in several regions of Albania. This allows them to shape and influence the current and upcoming generation of medical providers in Albania, where Christ is at the centre.

Please be praying these training sessions go smoothly and the impact will be for medicine to have more of a gospel focus.

We would love to introduce you to Esther who we'll be supporting on her medical elective to Mukinge Mission in Zambia this August - please keep her in your prayers as she prepares for her time overseas.

"My name is Esther and I am a 4th year medical student studying in Dundee. God willing, in August I will be spending 6 weeks in Zambia at Mukinge Mission Hospital for my medical elective. I am going with my friend, Emily and we are doing this through and with the support of Serving in Mission UK.

Over the placement, time will be spent getting involved in the various medical and surgical wards which I am sure will provide abundant learning opportunities as we see how medicine is practised within a rural community in Zambia. Doing this at a mission hospital is something I am very excited about, as our days will start with times of fellowship, and it will be wonderful to see the many ways in which God is at work amongst His people in Mukinge.

I would value prayer as we plan and prepare for our trip, and that it would be a time of real blessing as we hope to grow in our faith and dependence on the Lord as well as gain valuable insight into working in medicine at a mission hospital. I am sure this elective will be instrumental in shaping how I go on to practise medicine in a Christ-centred way in my future career and ultimately pray that we would be able to glorify the Lord through this opportunity!"

Please be praying for the psychiatric ward in the hospital in Uganda that offers support to those suffering with mental health conditions.

There is great misunderstanding around mental health in Uganda and it remains quite a taboo subject.

The hospital recently offer support to Kato who suffers with a bipolar disorder that was affecting his everyday life. Through regular medication and support from the hospital, Kato’s condition has now been stabilised. Please pray for him as he manages his condition, and that the hospital will be able to help many others in a similar position.

Praise God for the provision of the CRESS team in Uganda in offering employment and investment opportunities to refugees.

One woman who fled South Sudan in 2016 received support from the team, and has grown and adapted her business overtime to the point where she is now self-sufficient and plans to build a permanent home for her family this year.

Please be praying for the staff in Zambia who are mourning the loss of a staff volunteer who had been working at the hospital for a year; she had sickle cell anaemia and contracted malaria and sadly passed away last weekend.

Pray for her 8-year-old girl that she leaves behind, and that God will bring comfort to such a devastating situation.
