The effects of soaring fuel prices from the ongoing wars and climate impact from El Nino is being felt across the world, but especially by poorer countries.

Please keep Malawi in your prayers who only have one harvest a year and are now entering a challenging season; pray that the food at the new centre would be sufficient to sustain the children it supports.

On 26th September, Dreamland Hospital ran a medical outreach from a local church to offer screenings and other medical support to local communities.

The outreach offered a wide range of much-needed services, including general consultations, eye screening and free reading glasses, optometry, mental health and psychological counselling, orthopaedic reviews, physiotherapy, and pharmacy services.

This is a wonderful opportunity for sharing the gospel and for people to learn where they can seek medical support.

Alice has now returned from her medical elective in Tanzania where she served at two different medical facilities, she writes:

"Something that I will really take from this placement is consciously incorporating my faith life into my work. Before surgeries in KCMC, the doctors would often stop to pray and one night in Muhimbili National Hospital before an emergency surgery for a leg fracture I was asked to pray. Although praying as a team isn’t something I can do in the NHS, praying personally and asking for and trusting in God’s guidance during my work is something that I will try to do more consciously and intentionally."

Please continue to pray for the work being done through the prison ministry course, where they offer prisoners training in how to live a better life, where our value comes from and how we can support those around us.

The team have already seen some wonderful testimonies of prisoners knowing violence is not the solution and gaining an understanding of their God-given purpose in life.

Jo and Sam have arrived safely at Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda and are settling in well to hospital life; Jo has been supporting at the paediatrics ward and Sam has been helping with the outpatients department.

Please pray for them both as they continue to support the hospital team, offer care and support to patients and encourage others in their faith.

There has been severe rainfall in most provinces across Cambodia, with levels in the Battambang province continuing to rise.

There have been 13 mothers and their families affected from the Mother’s Heart project, where travel is extremely difficult and they are unable to reach healthcare facilities; please keep these mothers in your prayers – especially for one particular woman with urgent postnatal care needs.

The Mother's Heart team have visited these families on foot and delivered food packages to all those affected; please keep all these families in your prayers as they face such a challenging situation.

Nadia has shared a wonderful report about her time in Madagascar on her medical elective this summer, and shares:

"A pastor turned to me and called to mind the story of the woman who bled for twelve years – ‘she had suffered at the hands of many doctors before she met Jesus and found healing for her body and soul’. Many of the patients at Mandritsara hospital had also suffered at the hands of other people who were meant to help them. Despite all the limitations and challenges here, the Mandritsara Good News Hospital exists to echo what our Great Physician did, so the vulnerable, sick, and lost would find healing for their body and encounter with Jesus within their walls."

Our project focus this month is Nepal Leprosy Trust in Nepal who offer healthcare support to local communities through Lalgadh Hospital and community outreaches.

Please pray for those affected by leprosy in Nepal – that they would be found by the team and offered new hope through the community of other sufferers to draw them out of isolation.

Drs Ian and Claire Ferrer will be heading out to Nepal on 12th October to support churches in different regions of Nepal by offering training around mental health support.

One particular area they visited last year has been one of the worst affected by recent flooding, so they are hoping to visit this area again if practicalities will allow.

Many lives have been devastated by the recent flooding and so many are still struggling after losing everything; they hope to provide some grief counselling in their training this time to support those who have lost so much.
