Ride And Recover

Ride And Recover The pressures of life for the military, emergency services, and NHS can often be overlooked and treated as part of their job.

Ride And Recover is a Wiltshire based non-profit organisation to promote wellbeing to former and serving military , emergency services and NHS personnel, through motorcycle training and therapy programmes. This manifests in many aspects of mental and physical health, personal relationships and quality of life. The ownership, maintenance and practice of riding skills has long been associated with i

mprovements of well being through application, meditation, camaraderie and a free spirit. At Ride and Recover our aim is to improve mental well-being, confidence and stress management through funded pathways to a full bike licence, advanced rider training, basic maintenance and access to well being therapy services. From the Motocave 'hang out' lounge, we provide a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment, fostering a sense of belonging, through our bike related social events and activities. Ride and Recover was conceived by Duncan (Pompey) Wilkinson, a Former Royal Marines Commando of 18 years with a secondary career of over 20 years in the close protection field. After suffering a broken back on duty, he discovered motorcycles on advice from his surgeon as a means of transport and never looked back. Wanting to share his passion and belief in the therapeutic effect of riding, Pompey established Next Step Advanced rider training in 1996 using advanced police rider techniques. He also raced for many years and believes that techniques from both skills are vital to improve safety .
