Sabrina's World

Sabrina's World I am living my happy life and raising awareness of my disease Alg1-CDG. Follow me 4 fun and wonder.❤️ Sabrina is 7 years old and was born in 2014.

Her mantra is READY STEADY GO......! We believe that Sabrina feels like a caged bird who just wants to spread her wings and fly, explore and experience everything life has to offer. And why shouldn’t she. Heartbreakingly this is not always possible. Her diagnosis of ALG1 CDG – a very rare metabolic disease – causes many health issues but mainly affects her brain. She has Epilepsy, Microcephaly, Hy

potonia or low muscle tone to name a few. What does this mean... she can walk but not jump, she can understand but not fully communicate, she can strive but not achieve and she takes risks but doesn’t see the danger. Through sheer grit and determination, Sabrina started to walk when she was 4 – one week before our wedding. It was a dream come true to see our little flower girl take a few heavily supported steps down the aisle, and it was extremely emotional for us all. Since then she has continued to practice walking, driven by the desire to run with her brother. If she falls – which she does all the time – she gets straight back up and will try again and again and again. She is a joy and an inspiration to everyone she meets. What she needs is therapy to improve her strength and balance, so that one day she will jump on a trampoline and touch the sky. Therapy to help her speech and to draw out the words that seem to be locked inside. Equipment to help her access and experience everything life has to offer. And an adapted home environment which allows independence and safety, so we her family are free to play, laugh and love. Our hope is that through donations via Just4Children, Sabrina’s and our lives will be easier and fuller. And that our darling daughter continues to smash down barriers, push to the limit and achieve her full potential, living the life she deserves. After all, this is Sabrina’s World too.

🩷I've been incredibly lucky to have so many wonderful people support my charity over the years.

One of those people is Harvey from HS Sports.

Harvey first came into our lives when he was my brother Luca's PE teacher in Primary school, and ever since then HS Sports has continued to support Sabrina's World through fundraising, raffles and the amazing families who attend their clubs and camps.

That support hasn't just been about money. It has helped me access ongoing physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy, giving me opportunities to learn, communicate and develop into the girl I am today.

This week Harvey and his daughter Martha came to visit, and we spent a lovely afternoon in the sunshine playing on the swings together. 💛

As Sabrina's World begins a new chapter with Just4Children, I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to Harvey, HS Sports and everyone who has supported me over the years.

Your kindness has made a real difference to my life and to my family, and we'll always be grateful. 🙏🏻

Love,

Sabrina 💙

Look at my excited face...

This week I visited Westlea Fire Station with my school and had the best time. 🚒✨

We learned all about staying safe at home and what firefighters do to help people every day. I even got to try on some firefighter clothes, which was very exciting!

One of my favourite parts was holding the big water hose and squirting water outside. It made the most amazing rainbows in the sunshine. 🌈

After that, I got to sit inside the fire engine, which was so cool. I loved seeing all the buttons and feeling like part of the team.

It was such a fun day and I learned so much. Thank you to everyone at Westlea Fire Station for making us feel so welcome. 🫶🏻
