Good morning. While we do appreciate each and every food donation we receive we do need to make sure that everything is in date and unopened. We are unable to pass on out of date food or anything which has been opened to our foodbank recipients. Sadly, this morning we arrived to find two bags of out of date food at the front door!

The winter months are extremely difficult for the most vulnerable in our community. Many will suffer from the impending raise in energy prices which will result in them choosing to either heat their homes or to eat!!. As we approach the coldest time of the year I wonder if anyone either individually or as part of a school or community group could spare an item of non-perishable food for our food bank.
The items we need are as follows:
Savoury Biscuits
Sweet Biscuits
Long Life Juice
Long Life Milk
Squash
Coffee
Tea Bags
Tinned Carrots
Tinned Fruit
Tinned Potatoes
Super Noodles
Shower Gel
Toothpaste
Toothbrushes
Baked Beans
Dried Pasta

This is only part of what we need. The list is endless. If you wish to donate anything else that is not on our list then as long as it is a cupboard food then we are grateful for everything as long as they are in date.

As Christmas approaches we’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every business, church, community organisation and resident for their continued donations to our foodbank project.

Our food bank this week was extremely busy once again. Thanks to our volunteers for preparing and delivering the parcels.
Following this week parcels we are very short of the following items:

We have a number of regular supporters who do not want their names to be published. These people have set up Standing Orders through their bank paid directly to the Food Bank. Whilst we can’t name them we want everyone to know how grateful we are for their donations. Every £1 and every tin of food that is donated helps us to help those who need it most.

As part of our food share project we will have a food cloud available tomorrow 10th October.
Doors open at 9am.

CHRISTMAS APPEAL 2025 - SMYTHS TOYS GIFT CARDS
With Christmas fast approaching, we have launched our 5th annual appeal for donations of gift cards for Smyths Toys so we can help local families who are vulnerable and in need of support to buy gifts for their children this Christmas.
We have decided to ask for gift cards rather than presents again this year so that the parents can enjoy shopping for their children and wrapping the gifts. If you would prefer to give a present then please contact us as this can also be arranged.
If you are donating a gift card, could you please purchase these in denominations of ÂŁ5, this will ensure we can give the same amount to each child that we support.
If you would prefer to donate cash we will have donation tins at Canolfan y Bont where you can give as much or as little as you wish, alternatively you can make a direct transfer to our bank account and we will purchase vouchers on your behalf. Bank details are as follows:

National Foodbank Day is today Friday 5th September 2025.

Our foodbank has been as busy as ever during the school holidays. We are struggling to keep the shelves well stocked and are in desperate need of donations. If you are able to help by donating just one tin it would make a huge difference to the people we support. We have a donation basket 'Pontarddulais Area Food Bank' in the Tesco store Pontarddulais or you can bring any donation no matter how big or small to us at Canolfan y Bont, 28 Dulais Road, Pontarddulais, SA4 8PA.

Last Wednesday saw the end of an era when our delivery driver Stan stood down from his post. We are so grateful for the help he has provided over the past few years and really cannot thank him enough. He has always been there with a helping hand and he will be sorely missed.

Today we welcome a new delivery driver, Kaylea and I hope you will join me in welcoming her to our small but dedicated team!
