Hello Everyone one,

I will catch up with all our videos and pictures from the week in the next day or so.

We said our final goodbyes to the children, I think we are all filled with a sense of heartbreak as we need to do so much more.

We also, said goodbye to Michaela who flew home this morning, she’s got her wedding in two weeks so has so much to do. ❤️ we are all missing her it’s like a little piece of our amazing team is missing.

This afternoon Sabelo took us into Bulawayo city for a walk, the deprivation and just the way the people live is unbelievable.

We then went to the local hospital which when I say is falling apart is putting it mildly. The staff that work there for a pittance of pay are truly angels, to work in that environment and then still not earn enough to feed themselves is heartbreaking.

We have all come back to the lodge now for some downtime before we go to the theatre tonight to watch an African Musical.

I think this quote sums up the week, when you see children and families with nothing but still find the time to smile and thank you for your service, it truly makes you feel like we must all do more. ❤️

Another long day and not enough theatre time.
Day started with acute emergency re-do from yesterday, which had an impact on the rest of the list so another child cancelled.
Nick and Selena finally got to be in the same theatre for a very complex case, and enjoyed the opportunity to learn of one another and work together.
I’ve spend the day on the wards trying to work with limited stock and equipment we have all learnt how to do the best we can with what we’ve got. Thinking outside the box.
This evening we had a lovely meal with Andrew and Sarah our cure hosts who had us round lovely evening chatting and learning from one another. They have both led the most extraordinary life working in disadvantaged countries.
We are all now in bed ready for another long day. ❤️
Goodnight all thanks for following our journey.

Morning
Up and off to work, struggling today, we are all starting to feel tired, with such long days and long operations everyday day.

But such a worthwhile opportunity, the tiredness will disappear when we see the children’s smiling faces.
