Austin Bailey Foundation are delighted that their grant to the Girls Friendly Society funded a year of fun, engaging sessions for 46 girls at GFS Townhill, including workshops, mental health activities, sport, creative projects, and exciting trips. Girls gained confidence, life skills, and lasting friendships, all in a girl-only space designed to support their well-being and empower them to thrive.

Jemma Dalton, Head of Operations (South & Wales) at GFS, expressed the importance of your funding, “The generous funding from the Austin Bailey Foundation made a huge difference to our girls in South Wales. It enabled us to offer a really exciting range of activities and respond to the girls’ requests, such as the trip to Techniquest. Many of the girls we see at these groups are living with challenging home lives, and having a place like GFS to come and experience fun and friendship is so important.”

Austin Bailey Foundation are thrllled that their Grant will be allocated specifically for the hire of the Swansea Bay Ladies Choir's rehearsal venue.
Securing a suitable space for regular rehearsals is essential for the choir's ongoing development and success and helps enhance and further improve the quality of our high standard of musicality.

A quote from Helen John, our Musical Director.
Being a member of Swansea Bay Ladies Choir is about more than just the enjoyment of singing, it’s about fellowship, support and the feeling of belonging to something bigger than yourself.
It’s about giving pleasure, through music, to its members and the wider community. During rehearsals and after concerts, it gives a sense of wellbeing and pride in a job well done and of course, it’s also so much fun.

Austin Bailey Foundation are delighted that our support to the Enfys Foundation is helping their Neath Reuse shop. They had a till which was difficult for staff and volunteers to use, especially those with learning disabilities. The grant helped Enfys buy a till that is easy to use, visual, and takes the user through each step of the transactions. Now all staff and volunteers are included.

A quote from our CEO, Samira Jeffreys:

"The till has given our staff and volunteers confidence and the training has given them a new skill set that they feel confident using now and in future roles. They feel included and they new say that the modern till has made it feel like a 'real shop'! Another benefit is that staff can see available stock from the till which helps our customers."

Austin Bailey Foundation are very happy that their grant to Swansea Foodbank will go towards fresh fruit and vegetables for their foodbank centres in Mayhill and Penlan for the next 3 or 4 months to supplement the long-life tinned and packaged emergency food that are given to people on a low income experiencing hardship."

Staff/Trustee quote:
"We are delighted to be supported by the Austin Bailey Foundation. In our work providing emergency food to people without the money to meet their essential needs, it means everything to know that the local community and local funders are there to support us. The security of having several months funding for fresh food to supplement the long-life basics will benefit both people receiving the fruit and vegetables, who will know they are getting the type of healthy food we all want for our families and volunteers, who will feel they are able to give above and beyond the basics and know that people needing to use the foodbank are going home with more than they expected or hoped for."

ABF are delighted to be supporting Shannon Trust, a literacy and numeracy charity working in prisons across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our funding will support their literacy project at HMP Swansea, helping to train people in prison who can read (peer mentors) to teach those who cannot.

Quote from Amanda Segelov, Shannon Trust Director of Operations – South:

“Thanks to ABF we can provide AQA-accredited training to 10 new peer mentors at HMP Swansea, together with the learning resources required to teach 24 new learners to read.
“The impact on learners is often life-changing – as they gain access to educational, vocational and recreational opportunities that most of us take for granted. Our mentors also have positive outcomes, gaining a qualification and transferable skills that increase their employability on leaving prison.”
